Villanova Signs Trabuco Hills Alum
Brennan Martin To NLI--(Nov. 14, 2000)

Brennan Martin (6'-6" Postgrad. F) who graduated from Trabuco Hills HS last year, has now signed a National Letter of Intent with Villanova.  He originally committed to Texas A&M but then later decided to "de-commit" and didn't sign an NLI with A&M, and instead enrolled this past year at Hargrave Military Academy where he re-opened his recruiting.    We saw Brennan out here in SoCal for the Pump Fall Premier Tournament where he played once again with his IEBP club team, and last month we learned that he had verballed to the Wildcats.   He signed today, and Villanova issued their press release this morning.  Here it is:

VILLANOVA, Pa. - A pair of prospects have signed national letters of intent to attend Villanova University, head coach Steve Lappas announced today. Marcus Austin of St. Patrick's High School in Elizabeth, N.J. and Brennan Martin of Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., both inked letters.

Austin is a 6-9, 225-pound forward who averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on a St. Patrick's squad that reached the semifinals of the New Jersey Tournament of Champions and featured two seniors who will play Division I basketball this winter. Austin scored 17 points in the state semifinal against Camden High School.

"Marcus Austin will be a tremendous addition to our program," said Lappas. "At 6-9 he is very athletic and brings scoring ability that will help us in the future."

Martin (pictured right) is a 6-6, 170-pound forward who hails from Rancho Santa Magarita, Calif. This season he is enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy.

"Brennan Martin is an outstanding 3-point shooter and that is a very valued part of our offense," said Lappas. "He will make some great contributions to our program."

Austin and Martin are the first two members of the Villanova class of 2005.
