This Saturday marks the 7th Annual John R. Wooden Classic, and while no one is promising that it will be as exciting as the inaugural "Wooden Tradition" the sister-event which got its start this year in Indiana (since Coach Wooden is, of course, the greatest living alum of Purdue and a native son of the Hoosier state, as well as California's own adopted "Living Legend"), and for those of you who saw the Arizona game last weekend, you know what we're talking about. . . .Nope, these teams aren't doing nearly as well lately as Purdue and Arizona, but what the heck, these should be two competitive games, and the Pond is always a great location to check out the action.

There are several sponsors of this year's 7th Annual John R. Wooden Classic:  StreetZebra Magazine and  StreetZebra.com, as well as KCAL-9, XTRA 1150, and the new marquee sponsor, expanets.jpg (3117 bytes).  We're not sure what Exp@nets does, but if you click the link to their site, they'll no doubt tell you.

Tickets for this event aren't cheap, but the good news is that even with the moderately priced tickets, you'll get a great view.   The John R. Wooden Classic has it's own website, and they've also got a link to the Pond's own site, where you can check out the views from any of a number of locations using their virtual reality cam.

John R. Wooden Classic are $10, $15, $25, $37.50, $50, $65, $75, $90, $150 and $300 for admission to both games.  Groups of 15 or more receive $4 off select ticket prices and if you qualify as a group, call e-mail groupsales@arrowheadpond.com or call (714)704-2412 for further informaiton. Tickets have been on sale for a while (we've been a bit derelict this year in not promoting the event sooner) but there are still a lot of great seats available. To get tickets you cna contact the Arrowhead Pond box office,  buy them online at TicketMaster , purchase them by phone at (714) 740-2000 or at any physical (i.e., real-world) Ticketmaster outlet.

The Arrowhead Pond box office is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The box office is also open three hours prior to all events. Children under two are admitted free for most events, but must sit on a guest's lap. Visa, Mastercard, American Express credit cards and cash are accepted, however personal checks are not accepted.

See you there.
