Montclair Prep 2nd Annual Mounties Tip-Off:
First Day Results & Bracket--(Dec. 4, 2000)

Montclair Prep's tournament got going today.   Here are the results:

Montclair Prep 75, Santa Clarita Christian 67-- Derek Daniels (6'-7" Jr. PF) scored 17 points and and Garen Hartunian had 22 as the Mounties won the opening game.  Charlie Kranzdorf (6'-1" Jr. G/F) scored 14.   Montclair Prep advances in the lower half of the bracket and will play Buckley tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in a rematch of the Division V-AA playoffs from last season.

Kilpatrick 74, Montclair Prep JV 49-- Someone on the message board noted that Keilon Fortune (5'-11" Sr. PG) is now playing for Kilpatrick, and indeed this is correct information.  Keilon was the high scorer for Kilpatrick today with 22 points.  Montclair Prep's two Serbian students, ruled ineligible for varsity this season were the high scorers in the game, although we didn't actually get their point totals.

San Gabriel 64, West LA Baptist 56-- we only have the score, no details.  We'll have them posted tomorrow from the papers.

Yeshiva 76, Faith Baptist 29-- No contest really for most of this game. Abey Malkin (6'-0" Sr. PG) and Kenny Pollack (6'-0" Sr. G) looked particularly good.

Buckley 85, Pasadena Marshall 72-- Buckley (3-0) came back from a first quarter deficit of 12 points to close the quarter down 27-18.  In the second quarter though, Buckley outscored Marshall 23-15 behind two three-points from Alex Clancy (5'-11" Sr. SG) a three-pointer by David Gale (6'-0" Jr.  PG) who finished with 14 points, 10 assists and 5 steals, and another three by Colin Ward-Henninger (6'-4" Sr. G/F), who finished as the game's high scorer with 27 points and 11 rebounds.  The Griffins managed managed to close the gap at the half and trailed by just a 41-42.  In the third quarter the Griffins went ahead, outscoring Marshall 20-14, and finished with a 24-16 advantage in the fourth quarter, for the final 85-72 advantage and the win.   Marshall, which lost on Saturday night to Agoura in (which plays here in the Montclair Prep tournament tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m.), in the finals of the Hoover-Burbank Tournament, was led by Don Daniels with 15, Chris Strings 17 including 4 three-pointers, Harvester Harris 14, Bryson Haynes 11, Kenneth Lumpkin 6, and Hassan Moody 3.    Scorers for Buckley were Steve Broukhim 2, David Gale 14, Royal Weaver 8, Matt Wolf 7, Murali Sivalingam 8, Colin Ward Henninger 27, Alex Clancy 13, Jake Scannell 6.
