Mater Dei came in and handled Miami Christian pretty easily and the Monarchs were never really challenged in the game. Jamal Sampson finished with 17 points and 17 rebounds but looked as though he was cruising for most of the night. Unfortunately for the fans though, one of the reasons people wanted to see Miami Christian was to watch Carlos Rivera, but he was held out of the game due to a knee injury suffered earlier in the week; but we weren't disappointed to see Carlos Morban, who we first saw in December at the Rim Rattler Holiday Invitiational tournament at the same venue. Morban, who has signed with FIU, combined with Kelly Ortiz to score 27 points by the half, and between Johan Rivera who has also signed at FIU, the three combined for all 55 points scored by Miami, i.e., no one else scored. Morban finished with 24, Ortiz 19, and Rivera 12. The Monarchs (20-2), trailed during the first half, but it was only a matter of time before the Mater Dei rotation and the great play of Cedric Bozeman wore down Miami. Bozeman finished with 24 points and six assists. Mater Dei also had some great play from Wesley Washington, who had two tremendous dunks in the second half, and Harrisn Schaen who also a a couple as well.
