Southern Section Non-League Games-- Scores & Details, Saturday, January 13, 2001

St. Bernard 67, Daniel Murphy 54--Darren Cole led St. Bernard's offense with 17 points and led the defense with 13 blocks and 11 rebounds. Brandon Nunnally finished with 14 and Shawn Gauff added 11 for host St. Bernard (10-10), which ran up a 17-7 first quarter lead and finished the game with a 22-13 run.

Valencia 59, Palmdale 55--The Vikings (12-6, 3-0) recovered from their first quarter shooting woes, bolstered by 11 second-quarter points from Ingram, on their way to a 59-55 win over Palmdale Saturday.   Senior forward Jose Velazquez’s three pointer broke the Vikings out of a 6:32 scoring drought to start the game. Velazquez hit his first three attempts from beyond the arc and finished with nine points.  Valencia will meet Foothill League rival Saugus (12-6, 3-0)  next Friday to determine who will control first place.

Christian League

Arrowhead Christian Academy 83, Linfield 67--   Arrowhead Christian improved to 13-4 overall and 4-0 in league with the win over Linfield in this Christian League game, breaking away in the fourth quarter to take a commanding lead. Adam Dohner (6'-5" Sr. F) scored 37 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five steals, while junior 6-4 center Josh Breckley added eight points, collected 13 rebounds and had four blocked shots to assist the visiting Eagles (4-0, 14-4) to a victory over the Lions.  ARROWHEAD CHRISTIAN (83) -- Dohner 37, N. Gottry 2, Breckley 8, Britt 9, Cloud 3, J. Gottry 4, Carter 6, Pecbrra 14. LINFIELD (67) -- Ma. Duarte 31, Beckman 6, Koneig 7, Graham 13, Smith 6, LoFranco 2, Mi. Duarte 1, Altemose 1.   Halftime score -- Arrowhead Christian 36-34. Three-point goals -- Dohner 4, Pecbrra 3, Ma. Duarte 2, Graham. Total fouls -- Arrowhead Christian 36, Linfield 17. Loma Linda Academy 46, Woodcrest Christian 44--Loma Linda Academy defeated Woodcrest Christian in this Christian League game due to a time discrepency. Loma Linda was credited an extra two seconds to it's shotclock which allowed Ryan Prior make the game-winning shot off a rebound.Junior forward Kiff Rivinius scored on a 5-foot fallaway with three seconds to play to lift the Roadrunners (2-3, 7-6) over the visiting Royals (1-3) in a Christian League game.   WOODCREST CHRISTIAN (44) -- Wells 4, Musich 12, Reyes 6, Daniel 3, Pool 7, Bridges 4, Koning 8. LOMA LINDA ACADEMY (46) -- Prior 12, Alexander 9, Sandiford 2, Rivinius 4, Stottlemeyer 9, B. Aprecio 8, Boone 2.  Halftime score -- Loma Linda Academy 23-22. Three-point goals -- Reyes, Prior 2. Total fouls -- Woodcrest Christian 15, Loma Linda Academy 14. Fouled out -- none.    Records: Loma Linda Academy 3-1, 10-4. Woodcrest Christian 1-3, 8-6.

Western Christian 61, Ontario Christian 45 --Shawn Lokar had another impressive game for the Lancers with 14 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists.  The Allison brothers came off the bench to help take up the slack for Brad Meister, who was in foul trouble, and sparked the Lancers to victory.

Liberty League

Providence 73, Viewpoint 38--Derek Jones scored 30 points for Providence (10-6, 6-1) in a Liberty League game at Viewpoint.

Metro League

Upland Christian 47, Christian Center Academy 45--Senior 5-9 guard Angel Mejia scored a game high 23 points, including six three-point goals, collected seven rebounds, and had four steals, while junior 5-11 center Kevin Livermore added eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Warriors (0-3, 2-10) lost to the Eagles in a Metro League game. Brian Comer and Jake Garcia each scored 13 points for Upland Christian and Brian Sears added four points and 12 rebounds for Upland Christian.

Victory League

Bloomington Christian 68, Baptist Christian 59 -- Mike Martin had 32 points to lead Bloomington Christian to a Victory League victory over Hemet Baptist Christian.  Martin also had 17 rebounds to lead the Ravens (12-1, 2-1 in league).  Senior forward John Smith score nine of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to complete a second-half comeback for Bloomington Christian. BAPTIST CHRISTIAN (59) -- Lappinga 4, Ray 10, Vandeen 10, Acton 9, Eaton 10, Ochoa 14, Anatoli 3.   BLOOMINGTON CHRISTIAN (68) -- Martin 32, Smith 16, Rollings 11, Stott 4, K. Jordan, J. Jordan 2. Halftime score -- Baptist Christian 35-32. Three-point goals -- Rollings, Ray, Acton. Total fouls -- Bloomington Christian 19, Baptist Christian. Fouled out -- J. Jordan. Ambassador Christian 46,  Twin Pines 44--Ambassador Christian trailed, 37-27, entering the fourth quarter, having never led, but John Palmer scored 13 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter to give Ambassador Christian a 44-42 lead. In the beginning of the fourth quarter, Ambassador switched to a full-court press that forced Twin Pines into turnovers and kick-started Ambassador Christian's offense. Brandon Giden had 12 rebounds and six points for Ambassador Christian. AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN (46) -- Palmer 24, J. Guzman 9, E. Guzman 4, Giden 6, Cooper 2, Peters 1. Second Round

Ambassador Christian 46, Twin Pines 44 --John Palmer (5'-8' Sr. G) scored a game high 24 points and had four assists and junior 6-1 forward Brandon Guiden led with 12 rebounds and added six points as the Dawgs (4-8) gained a victory over the Bobcats (2-8) in the second round of the Boys Republic/MLK Tournament in Chino.

Stoneridge Prep 82,  CSDR 45 --CSDR's Marco Amaro had a team-high 16 points in the Cub's loss in the second round of the Chino Hills Boys Republic Tournament. BOYS REPUBLIC 84, AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN 74: Junior 6-1 forward Brandon Guiden scored 23 points and collected 16 rebounds and senior 5-8 guard John Palmer added 18 points and had four steals as the Dawgs (4-9) fell to the Rams (5-7) during the third round of the Boys Republic/MLK Tournament. Junior 5-8 guard Jose Guzman scored 14 points and had four steals and Esteban Guzman added 13 points for Ambassador Christian.

Boys Republic 84, Ambassador Christian 74  -- Brandon Giden scored 23 points and had 16 rebounds for Ambassador Christian in a third-round loss in the Chino Hills Boys Republic Tournament. John Palmer had 18 points and four assists for Ambassador Christian. Ambassador Christian had played a game earlier in the day, and Boys Republic had not. The result was Boys Republic jumping out to a 23-10 lead and Ambassador Christian having to play catch-up the rest of the day, Ambassadoe Christian coach John McAllister, Jr. said. Ambassador Christian was 19 of 32 from the free-throw line. Ambassador Christian plays CSDR in the third-place game on Monday at 1 p.m. AMBASSADOR CHRISTIAN (74)--Palmer 18, J. Guzman 14, E. Ontario Scott added 12 for CSDR and Kyle Bayarki had 10 rebounds and nine points. CSDR plays Fontana Ambassador Christian in the third place game on Monday at 1 p.m.  CEDU (17) -- Sweney 7, Stein 5, Fowler 3, Gordon 2, McMillian 0.  CSDR (55) -- Amaro 16, Scott 12, Smith 9, Bayarsky 9, Guzman 5, Morales 1, Albarre 1, Martinez 2. Marine League MLK Showcase

Carson  64, Banning 60--Carson was in control of the game early, but needed a 3-point basket from Marques Washington to tie the score late in the fourth quarter and Lamont Peters hit two free throws to give the Colts a 64-60 Marine League victory over Banning at Harbor College. Errol Jackson led Carson (11-6, 1-1) with 17 points. Washington finished with 13 points, Peters had 10 points and Ekene Ibekwe added 12.  Carson had a 35-29 lead at half after after running up a 17-7 first quarter lead, but Banning (0-2 in league) came back behind 19 points from Alberto Aguirre and 17 from Joey Saavedra.

Narbonne 71, San Pedro 47--Beto Delgado scored 21 points as Narbonne (14-3, 2-0) rebounded from a poor shooting first half by scoring 44 points after halftime at Harbor College. Narbonne shot 20 percent from the field in the first half, but still was in front, 27-22, at halftime. Delgado also had eight assists, seven steals and six rebounds and Brannon Nichols had 17 points and six rebounds. San Pedro (8-9, 0-2) was led by Malik Rahh, with 16 points, and Glenn Bullard with 15.
