With only seven on the team, that left the Pirates with sophomores Dickson, Michael Boucher and Chris Williams, and freshman Danny Anderson. That was enough.  Dickson had eight of the Pirates’ 11 points in overtime, and Boucher make a pair of free throws with 11.3 seconds in overtime to all but clinch the win.  Morro Bay is 4-2 in the LPL, 10-10 overall and in third place in the league standings. The Pirates played their second overtime game in a six days. They lost the first — to league-leading Santa Ynez.   Morro Bay held a lead until the final 1:27 of regulation, when Atascadero went ahead, 58-57, on a Riley Prickett three-pointer. That brought the Greyhounds back from as many as 11 points down.   Dickson finished with 30 points and eight rebounds for Morro Bay, while Nick Humphrey had 16 points before fouling out.  Atascadero’s Pat Bresnahan had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Prickett had 16 points. The Greyhounds mounted their comeback with free-throw shooting — 14 of 15 in the final three quarters — but missed some plays down the stretch. Atascadero had a 69-68 lead when Morro Bay was forced to play with four players. But two fouls gave Morro Bay four points off free throws and a travelling call cost the Greyhounds a possession.

Santa Clarita Christian 78, West Valley Christian 61--  Trailing 17-12 at the end of the first half, Santa Clarita (4-3, 9-6) outscored its opponent for the next three quarters and prevented the Falcons’ offense from getting back into the game.   Hitting only three shots from the floor in the opening half, the Cardinals cracked the West Valley defensive code after halftime, hitting 38 percent of its shots en route to the win. Junior forward Andrew Gilmore was the force behind the Santa Clarita offensive explosion, scoring 15 points in the second half to end up with a prep career-high of 26 points on the night. Joining him on the scoreboard was teammate Daniel Duncan who netted 17 points.   Falcons point guard Daryush Jahan-Bigloo scored a game-high 26 points while grabbing five rebounds and seven steals. Taking the early lead, West Valley came out of the gates at full throttle behind a strong shooting effort by Jahan-Bigloo and Curtis George. Foul trouble, however, quickly slowed down the Falcons’ attack and allowed the Cardinals to get back into the game from the free throw line. Trailing after the first quarter, Santa Clarita kept closing in on its league rival. A three-pointer by Gilmore then gave the Cardinals its first lead of the game with 4:49 remaining in the first half. The lead would be short-lived, however, as West Valley would tie the score at 30 going into halftime. Coming into the final half, Santa Clarita looked revitalized hitting shots from all around and dominating the rebounding effort. Micah Panama’s 11-point effort combined with teammate Caleb Sulham’s 10 points and six rebounds helped Santa Clarita open up the scoring. West Valley also had problems staying out of foul trouble, with two players fouling out of the game before the end. Working up to a 73-53 lead with three minutes left in the game, the Cardinals coasted to the win.
