Montebello (11-12, 5-2) scored just two baskets from the field in the first half, failing to hit the rim on one-third of its shots. The Oilers shot 10.5 percent in the opening two periods. The Moors (17-6, 5-2) did not fare much better early in the game. Alhambra turned the ball over twice in its first four possessions before gaining a 6-3 lead on a series of high-percentage baskets. But following a 6-6 tie on a 3-point basket by Oiler guard Felix Angulo, Marcus Harris single-handedly pulled the Moors ahead, rolling a rebound off his fingertips for a second-chance basket and nailing a 3-pointer to give Alhambra a five point lead with 5:25 to play in the half.
