And here are the details of the first round games played Friday night, at least the ones we could locate:

Westchester 110, Marshall 40--John Clemmons score a game-high 20 points, hitting 4-of-5 3-pointers, to lead the Comets (25-1) at home. Brandon Heath hit 5-of-6 3-pointers while scoring 17 points, and Keith Everage had a 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Grant 82, Taft 79--Grant's Mike Charleston scored 27 points, had 10 rebounds and made eight consecutive free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Lancers pull out an 82-79 victory in a City Championship boys' basketball first-round game at Taft (19-7). Grant (20-6) was also led by DeWayne Anderson who scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.  Grant will play at Westchster on Wednesday.  Taft's Steve Smith scored 31 points, Mustafa Asghari had 25 points and Nima Javaherian had 21, combining for 77 of Taft's 79 points.

Dorsey 90, Venice 71--Neither the details nor the box score were reported.

Crenshaw 76, Palisades 75--Crenshaw's Onye Ibekwe made two free throws with six seconds left to clinch the one point win. Crenshaw led 74-72  when Palisades guard Chanson Smyth missed a three-point shot attempt;  Ibekwe got the rebound and was fouled, going to the line. Ibekwe (6'-7" Jr. F) finished with 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Marcus Williams (6'-1" So. PG) finished with 20 points and 11 assists. Crenshaw (20-5) will play Dorsey on Wednesday.  Marko Mihailovic (6'-5" Sr. SG/SF) scored 33 points for Palisades (17-8), which led, 44-39, at halftime but had four players foul out.

Fremont 76, North Hollywood 43--Josiah James scored 14 points and Ken Hauser added 11 for the Huskies (18-6), who lost to the No. 3-seeded Pathfinders at Fremont.

Gardena 77, South Gate 74--Marcus Wilson led Gardena with 20 points in the road win. Brandon Drayton scored 19 and Ramon Prescott added 12. Gardena will face Fremont in the next round.

Washington 56, Sylmar 55--The No. 10-seeded Spartans (15-10) were eliminated in a game at No. 7-seeded Washington.

Fairfax 117, Chatsworth 72--Scott Johnston had 19 points and Shayne Berry scored 18, but Chatsworth High committed 22 turnovers and lost to No. 2-seeded Fairfax, 113-72, in a first-round game of the City Championship boys' basketball playoffs Friday night at Fairfax. Chatsworth (17-8) shot 33% from the field in the first half and was outscored, 63-31.  Evan Burns had 34 points for the Lions (21-5).
