All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. ithe day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
Game Details from Friday, 2/16
Price 95, Masada 43--no details were available. Likewise, we can't be certain where the Apple Valley Christian game against Price in Tuesday's upcoming quarterfinal match will be held, because the CIF website shows both Price and Apple Valley as the host schools, which obviously isn't correct. Both schools have already hosted home games, and Price has had 2 at home, while Apple Valley has only one, which should mean that Apple Valley is the host school under the Playoff Handbook rules for determining sites.
Apple Valley Christian 63, Mesrobian 59--No details of this game were available. Apple Valley should be the host school against Price, but we can't be certain until Tuesday morning when the CIF office opens.
Tarbut V' Torah 69, Joshua Springs 56--details were not available for this game, but it looks like Tarbut won the coin flip and will host West LA Baptist in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
West L.A. Baptist 61, First Lutheran 59--no details were made available. West LAB will travel to Tarbut V' Torah for the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Stoneridge Prep 59, Cuyama Valley 54--James Williams had 19 points and Mike Neng added 12 for the Wildcats of Tarzana (18-8) in a Division V-A win at Cuyama Valley. Stoneridge will play host to Desert Christian on Tuesday in a quarterfinal match.
Desert Christian Bermuda Dunes 55, Cal Lutheran 49 --Bermuda Dunes Desert Christian squandered a 10-point lead in the third quarter but outscored Wildomar Cal Lutheran 20-14 in the fourth to reach the quarterfinals for the first time. Tim Smith had 16 points and eight blocked shots, and Andrew Brattrud had 15 rebounds. The C-Hawks used a 17-2 run to tie the game 35-35 heading into the final quarter, but they couldn't complete the comeback in a Division V-A second-round game. The C-Hawks (15-6), who got 14 points from Jesse Wenzel and 12 from Phil Neujahr, never got in a groove from the field. They sank 18 of 59 shots (31 percent) against the Conquerors (19-4). CAL LUTHERAN (49) -- Wenzel 14, Neujahr 13, Bahn 8, Johnson 6, Baker 5, Lemmerman 3. DESERT CHRISTIAN (55) -- Smith 16, Johnson 15, Brattrud 9, Santana 8, Mangus 0, Hay 7. Halftime score -- Desert Christian 28-18. Three-point goals -- Johnson (DC), Smith, Johnson (CL). Total fouls -- Cal Lutheran 17, Desert Christian 13. Fouled out -- Johnson (CL). Records: Cal Lutheran 15-6, Desert Christian 19-4.
Orangewood Academy at Thousand Oaks Hillcrest Christian--This game was postponed and will not be played until Tuesday, February 20, at the new Oaks Christian school in Thousand Oaks. As a result, Antelope Valley Christian's game against the winner will not take place until Wednesday, 2/21, and presumably, since all three schools (Orangewood, Hillcrest and AVC) have hosted a home game, the location won't be known until Wednesday morning.
Antelope Valley Christian 76, Acaciawood 52--Jamal Flanagan had 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles (20-6) in an easy Division V-A win at Acaciawood Prep.
