Division 5AA bracket Girls updated 2/16

Division V-AA is a 32 team bracket with no byes and five Wild Card games. The wild cards were all played on Thursday February 15, and while we don't usually follow the girls game, we did happen to catch the Buckley girls' wild card win over New Roads, a lopsided affair, and the Griffins' upset win over No. 4 seed Calvary Chapel Downey behind Baha Maleki's 34 points, and two key free throws with only seconds on the clock.

Here's what happened in the rest of the first round on Saturday night. The Second Round will be played on Wednesday, February 21:

All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game. Coin flips are used to determine home games if both teams have played an equal number of prior home games; in the event one team has played fewer home games, that team will be the home team and no coin toss is needed. In the semifinals "alternate sites" will be used. The home team gets to select the alternate gym site. It must be a gym that the home team has not conducted a practice at during the season. The home team may have played a game, but cannot have practiced at the alternate site. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
