SCIBCA Tournament Upcoming
In June; Spots Still Open--(Apr. 13, 2001)

Each year, the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (SCIBCA) hosts an early summer tournament, and this year will be no exception.   While the SCIBCA pairings will not be set until the middle of may, the dates of the tournament are known, and it will take place June 8-10 at many different sites all over the CIF Southern Section region.  The boys bracket will be two 64 team brackets, a "small schools" bracket and a "large schools" bracket.  There will be two separate divisions for girls teams as well, with the brackets probably being sized at between 32-48 teams each depending on the interest level.    Teams will not be prohibited from "playing up" which means that teams which are required by CIF-SS to play in the lower enrollment divisions will be permitted to play against larger schools.

Entrance into the tournament is limited to SCIBCA members only, so if your coach isn't a member of SCIBCA yet, tell him or her to join, and do it today. Membership is only $25 per year for an individual and $75 for the entire staff, and there are some great benefits to joining.  SCIBCA does some great work throughout the year, including voting on the weekly polls in each division, helping with the playoff seeding and bracketing, and assisting in the All-CIF Southern Section selection process.    SCIBCA sponsors coaches clinics and in general works to benefit the coaching profession and high school athletics in particular.  Membership is open to anyone who coaches, and CIF-SS high school coaches are encouraged to join and participate.   For tournament registration information and SCIBCA membership info, contact Ray Plutko at Riverside MLK at (909) 788-1107.
