Rafael Berumen Signs NLI With
Miami Of Florida--(Apr. 25, 2001)

This is not new to us because we spoke with Rafael Berumen (6'-9" So. JUCO PF) last weekend at the Rockfish All-Star Games, but the first public confirmation that he's signed with a college has come from Recruiting USA which reported yesterday that the former Simi HS standout and former New Mexico player who transferred to LACC this past season, has signed a letter of intent with the Miami Hurricanes. Berumen is a talented face-up power forward who can shoot from the short corner or out to three point range and he's a good rebounder who should help Miami next season. Miami will need an inside presence next season with the graduation of Dwayne Wimbley (6'-9" Sr. F), and Rafael can add some depth since their other two big men are currently just a freshman (Darius Rice (6'-10" Fr. F) and James Jones (6'-8" So. F).
