5th Annual Coca-Cola All-American Classic

Las Vegas Durango HS

Sunday June 3, 2001

Top Players From All Over The U.S.

The 5th Annual Coca-Cola All-American Classic has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 3, 2001 at Durango HS, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  While the event was originally planned to take place at the MGM Grand Arena, Durango is a familiar venue for top high school all-star events, and this one still promises to be one of the top games this year.

Formerly known as the "Eddie Jones Classic" and the "Dada Classic", the event is organized by Dinos Trigonis of Fullcourt Press and Belmont Shore.  While there have been some minor adjustments to the rosters, the main game looks to be unchanged in terms of the players who are expected to play.    The All-American Game is scheduled to be played at 7:30 p.m. (PDT--the flyer we received said "PST" but last we looked, Nevada was also on Daylight Savings Time):

The revised material we received did not mention anything about the "The All-American 'Border War' Game which had been previously scheduled to tip-off immediately prior to the All-American National Game, and we just don't have any idea if that game will still be played or not.  Previously announced players in that game who were anticipated to play included Chad  Bell (New Mexico signee), Matt Short (Oregon signee), J.S. Nash (Oregon State signee), Eric Osmundsen (Utah signee), Nick Curtis (USC signee), Edwin Draughan (committed to Yale), Jason Johnson (UTEP signee), Anthony Davis (Long Beach State signee), Mark Bowens (Long Beach State signee) and Phillip Johnson (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo signee).
