San Diego State Gets Verbal
Commitment
From LB Poly's Markee White--(Apr. 5, 2001)
When we noted yesterday that San Diego State had received a verbal from Pittsburg (CA) HS senior Trimaine Davis, we neglected to give a complete update on what we had learned about the Aztec's current recruiting. As reported by Recruiting USA on March 30, Long Beach Poly senior standout Markee White (6'-8" Sr. F) has given a verbal commitment to San Diego State head coach Steve Fisher.
San Diego State now has two confirmed verbals from White and Davis, and one not-yet confirmed potential recruit in former Crenshaw star and 1999-2000 LA City Section Player of the Year Tommy Johnson (6'-3" SG). Tommy originally signed a letter of intent with Washington State, traveled up to Pullman, enrolled in classes, only to later learn that he had not completed all the core-courses in order to graduate or qualify. So Tommy has moved back to Los Angeles, and is currently enrolled at Crenshaw's adult school where he is taking classes in order to eventually graduate.
We would expect Markee to sign a National Letter of Intent sometime in the spring signing period which begins on April 11, next week. He will be playing this weekend at the adidas Double Pump Easter Tournament with the Jackrabbits and we'll try to speak with him tomorrow for additional confirmation.
