LA Times "Battle of the Valley"
All-Star Game Announced--(Apr. 28, 2001)

Today's Valley Edition of the LA Times announced the annual seniors-only LA City Section vs. CIF Southern Section "Battle of the Valley All-Star Game" rosters.  The game will be played May 12 at Cal State Northridge.  No starting time was announced, but there is usually a girls game and then a boys game, with the boys' game usually tipping-off at around 7:00 p.m. or so.  More details will come out on the time in the next few days, and hopefully we'll hear more shortly.

Here are the rosters (in alphabetical order) and the coaches of the two teams as announced:

Several of the players have already committed, while others are still wide open on their college selections.  Chaminade's Scott Borchart will play next year at the University of Santa Clara, while Simi Valley's Dustin Villepigue will be at Gonzaga, and Buckley's Colin Ward-Henninger will be at Yale.  Last we heard, Michael Jenkins was thinking of walking on at Northwestern, where his brother also attends school.  Most of the others in the CIF-SS side, including LA Times Valley Player of the Year, Cody Pearson are still undecided.  Pearson is reportedly being looked at by Pepperdine and a few others.  On the LA City Section side of the roster, the only player we know about who has definitely signed for next year who will play D-I basketball is Cecil Brown, a 6'-4" shooting guard who led the region and who signed at UCSB a few weeks ago.  Grant's Mike Charleston is looking at some D-I volleyball offers.
