NAU Signs Irvine Valley
College's Chris Ferguson--(May 12, 2001)
We missed reporting this one last week, but better late than never. Chris Ferguson (6'-2" So. JUCO PG) from Irvine High School, who signed with USD out of high school and then transferred to Irvine Valley this past season has signed with the Big Sky's Jacks of Northern Arizona. NAU has signed quite a few SoCal players in the past few years, including Chris Bennett (6'-9" Fr. F--Redshirt) from Pasadena Marshall, Justin Garcia (7'-1" Fr. C) Jurupa Valley, and Commander King (6'-3" Sr. PG) from Mission Viejo who also played at Irvine Valley College.

NAU Signs Junior College Guard

May 8, 2001FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Chris Ferguson, a 6-2, 175-pound guard from Irvine Valley College, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent with Northern Arizona University, Head Basketball Coach Mike Adras announced Tuesday.
"Chris is an excellent addition to our program," said Head Coach Mike Adras. "As the son of a high school coach, he has a good basketball background and understanding for the game. He brings versatility to our program with the ability to play several positions. He will fit into our program immediately."
Ferguson, who played one season at Irvine Valley, averaged 14.2 points, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals a game on a Laser team that finished with a 16-15 overall record. He shot 40.4 percent from three-point range and 88.1 percent from the free throw line. He was fourth in the state in free throw percentage.
A standout at Irvine High School, Ferguson played one season at the University of San Diego during the 1999-2000 season before transferring to
Irvine Valley for the past school year. Ferguson is the second player in the past three years to go from Irvine Valley to Northern Arizona. Commander King, who recently completed his eligibility with the Lumberjacks, played at Irvine Valley from 1997-1999.
