Coaches Both Resign--(May 2, 2001)
No, these resignations aren't connected, but we just thought we'd combine them into one story. . . .
According to the LA Times, Huntington Beach High boys' basketball Coach James Dingus has resigned after one season. His reasons, according to published reports in the Times and the OC Register were to "go into private business", according to HB Oiler Athletic Director Dave Van Hoorebeke. Huntington Beach was 8-18 overall and 0-10 in the Sunset League last season. No replacement has been named.
And El Dorado boys' coach Tim Tivenan also resigned this past week. Tivenan told reporters that he wanted to spend more time with his family. He compiled a 132-79 record in his 8 seasons. While no successor was formally named, the LA Times reported that assistant coach Ryan Mounce is expected to get the job.
