The Old Guard Lives: Bill Nance On
Hoops
In Washington...Again--(May 23, 2001)
One of our favorite guys (although we've never met face-to-face) is Bill Nance. Back in the old WestCoastHoops days, Bill used to keep us all updated on what was happening with the Washington players (as in the players from the State of Washington) and their recruiting. When Rivals got started, Bill joined up and formed Washington Prep Report. And with the demise of Rivals, Bill sort of disappeared for a while.
But he's back and so is his site for hoops in the State of
Washington: Bill has joined up with a group called "The Final Score" (which can
be found either by clicking on the link or by inputting this address in your browser: http://www.thefinalscore.tv. .
Bill says his decision to go with this site (instead of with either Alliance, who acquired the rights to the old Rivals sites, or with Citadel, another network that is being formed by some of the old Rivals publishers) was based on the fact that the folks who run it are good guys, and they also have put on the King Holiday Hoopfest since its inception and started televising games this last seasona as well as putting on a radio package. In short, they gave Bill what he needed to do his thing and there are none of the headaches associated with trying to launch a network.
The site takes a bit of getting used to visually, and while the interface seems a bit unusual, it's actually very nice and easy to navigate. And best of all, The Final Score seems to have all of the same content that we've come to expect from Bill in his former incarnation(s). . . in other words, it's got great reporting, results, scores, details, analysis, recruiting info, and the same kinds of message boards that his old Rivals site used to have devoted to "Class" basketball (e.g., 4A, 3A, 2A, etc) for hoops in the State of Washington, as well as recruiting news and info.
In short, we're all back in business with hoops in the State of Washington.
