Rivals.com Is Now Gone. . .& Our
Recruiting Links Are Updated--(May 10, 2001)

We've learned, like anyone else out there who clicked on any of the former Rivals.com sites' links today that the Rivals.com network is no longer functioning. . . once again.  And while some of the sites will once again be resurrected at AllianceSports.com (there are a few sites now functioning on that network), including several recruiting sites, for the most part, the Rivals network as we once knew it is now gone.

AllianceSports is a network itself which was acquired last year by Rivals, and which somehow managed to spin itself back off.  Remarkably, the Alliance folks also managed to acquire all of the rights to whatever was left of Rivals, including the "look and feel" of the network, and if you visit Alliance, that's what you'll see.

In the meantime, the demise of Rivals has meant that we've now got another good excuse to once again undertake the gargantuan task of updating and revising our links.   We've started with the "Recruiting" links, and in addition to deleting links to old Rivals.com sites, and posting up new ones to those sites we know have gone back to independence, we've also reorganized the links for NCAA Recruiting for student athletes.  We've got links to the National Letter of Intent site, the Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse, and to the National Testing sites (e.g., ACT and the ETS site which administers the SAT).  We've got links to the NCAA recruiting calendar and we will shortly also have links to other scholarship resources as well (not just athletic recruiting services either, but resources for all kinds of academic and athletic scholarship money at all levels, including D-I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO).

The internet is an always evolving kind of thing, and the only thing about it that is certain is that it never stays the same.  We'll try to keep up and to bring you the best, not only with original content and articles, but also by providing the most complete links to everything hoops in SoCal and beyond.

Today's LA Times is reporting that Sherman Oaks Notre Dame HS' Cody Pearson (6'-4" Sr. G) is close to committing to the Waves.  Cody was originally recruited by schools such as CSUN, Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and Utah, but elected to wait until the spring to sign.   He has also been receiving some interest lately from Cal Poly SLO, but it looks like he'll be committing to Pepperdine soon.   Cody was named the LA Times' Player of the Year for the Valley-Ventura region and will be among the top players participating in the LA Times-sponsored "Battle of the Valley" All Star Game which will be played this coming Saturday at Cal State Northridge.  The boys' game will get started at 7:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a girls game.  Both games will feature teams made up of LA City Section players who will compete against Southern Section CIF players.
