San Diego Super 60's "Terrific
20 Game" Highlights--(May 12, 2001)

Here's another one we neglected to post from last week. . . This is a report which Ollie Goulson sent us about the San Diego Super 60 League's "Terrific 20" game which was played Tuesday night.  Better late than never. . . .

The top 20 players were selected in a vote of their peers. Tonight they were pitted against each other based on league divisions. To qualify, a player must have played in a minimum of 5 regular season games.

West Team 99,  East Team 98

The "Terrific 20" game was a game of 2 halves for both teams, and one very exciting finish. It also marked
the biggest comeback in Super 60 League history.

Floyd North's coast to coast lay-up as time expired enabled the West to overcome a 32 point first half deficit and come away with the victory over the East.  North (St. Augustine) was spectacular as he dropped in 23 of his game high 37 points in the last 12 minutes. North who ran away with the game's Most Valuable Player honor, was not alone however as the West's full court pressure got to the East behind 3 San Diego Caver players, Nate Moore, KD Rockett, and Anthony Palmer who helped create many second half turnovers. Rockett finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds to go with his 5 steals, while Rico Tucker (Bishop's) dropped in 9 points for the West. Palmer, Martin Smith (Bishop's), and Mohamed Abukar (Rancho Bernardo) all added 8 points for the victors. The East who looked unbeatable in scoring 68 first half points were led by Richard Moss (LaJolla) whose 19 points included the go ahead basket with 10 seconds that preceded North's heroics. Julius Profit (Serra) also played well in finishing with 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Porter Troupe (LaJolla) knocked down 12 points. Dru Foster (San Diego) also added 11 points for the East.
