We received word a couple of days ago about the first round matchups for this tournament, but due to other pressing business (yeah, real work), we were unable to post this until now. But better late than never. The tournament gets started a week from Friday, June 22 at Palm Springs HS. There are 23 teams, which is a pretty oddball number for a tournament, but with 9 byes in the first round it will all work. All of the games will be played on the two courts located at PSHS. Here's the schedule for Friday, June 22, 2001:

2:00 p.m.	Palm Springs vs. Estancia
3:00 p.m.	Banning vs. Central Union
4:00 p.m.	Rancho Cucamonga vs. Desert Hot Springs
5:00 p.m.	Highland vs. La Habra 2
5:00 p.m	Colony (AK) vs. Paloma Valley
6:00 p.m.	Buckley vs. Birmingham
6:00 p.m.	Manual Arts vs. Perris-Calvary Chapel winner
7:00 p.m.	Dos Pueblos vs. Banning-Central winner
7:00 p.m.	Lincoln vs. Palm Springs-Estancia winner
8:00 p.m.	Yucaipa vs. La Habra 1
8:00 p.m.	Righetti vs. Rancho Cucamonga-Desert Hot Springs winner

The only Saturday morning game we know about for certain is that Artesia will play the winner of the Buckley v. Birmingham game.
