We received the following information from Anthony Ray, who publishes the Arizona Preps website and who also happens to be one of the coaches the Arizona Double Pump All Star team.  Anthony wanted us to help spread the word about an event his group will be sponsoring in Arizona during the interim "dead period" (which is the 10 day period between July 15 and July 24).  Here' the info he sent:

As a tune-up for this year's Adidas Big Time Tourney in Las Vegas, Arizona Preps will be hosting the 2001 Arizona Preps Diamond Discovery! The event will be held this year at Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix,
Arizona, July 20-22. This year's event will include high school and junior college players from all over the West Coast.

The Diamond Discovery was designed to help lesser known or recruited prep athletes the opportunity be seen and evaluated daily by some of the top college basketball scouting services in the country, which will be in attendance for the event.  This years' Arizona Preps Diamond Discovery will bring recruitment opportunities to all those involved, and help to make each participant's experience as exciting as possible.

Diamond Discovery Camp Features:

* Compete Against Top Players on the West Coast
* Play in Two Games Daily (Min. of  5 Games)
* Each Game Held on One Main Court of Gymnasium (2 Gym Running At Once)
* Equal Playing Time For All Participants
* NCAA, SAT & ACT Eligibility Requirements Presented
* Be Evaluated By Top Scouting Services In Attendance
* Be Recruited By College Coaches In Attendance
* All Star Games For Top Campers
* Each Camper Will Receive a Camp T-Shirt & Playing Jersey
* Opportunity To Be Discovered By Scouts and Ranked Among Top Players On the West Coast

We can't say that we'll be among the people in attendance, but if we can find the time, SoCalHoops may be in be there. And keep in mind that while no D-I colleges can be out during this period, D-II, D-III and NAIA coaches don't have the same restrictions (they also don't have the same travel budgets, but that's a different story). So, there will still be some coaches able to be there.
