Sylmar HS Slam Jam #1 This Friday--(July 3, 2001)

We just received word of a small tournament which will be played this weekend at Sylmar HS, starting Friday, July 6, Saturday July 7 and Sunday July 8, 2001. This will only be a six team tournament, involving Valencia, Westlake, Chatsworth, Rolling Hills Prep, Price and Granada Hills, but it's certainly something for the guys in it. It's evidently being staged by Jack Pollon, and he sent us the following pools, pool play schedule and game schedule:

Pool A : Valencia, Westlake and Chatsworth
Pool B : Rolling Hills Prep, Price, and Granada Hills

The game schedule is as follows:

Friday:
2:00 p.m. Valencia vs. Chatsworth
3:30 p.m. Price vs. Rolling Hills Prep
5:00 p.m. Valencia vs. Westlake
6:30 p.m. Price vs. Granada Hills

Saturday:

2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. only

Sunday:

2:00 p.m. 5th Place
3:30 p.m. 3rd Place
5:00 p.m. Championship

There should be a few interesting players at this small event, but with the first session of the adidas Double Pump West Coast All Stars also staring this Saturday, July 7, we'd expect a couple of the higher profile guys to be there, but perhaps Franklin Robinson of Chatsworth, Derrick Williams (who transferred to Price), or Curtis Allen of RHP, and a few others will be present. You'll never know unless you check it out.
