Brandon Bowman Commits
To Georgetown--(Sept. 15, 2001)

We're about a week late on this one, but better late than never:  Brandon Bowman (6'-6" Sr. G/F) from Westchester has committed to Georgetown after taking an unofficial visit there.  Bowman is a long agile slasher who can shoot pretty well out to the perimeter and is a good rebounder, and the consensus among those who have seen him play is that he has the frame to put about another 20 lbs of muscle on once he hits a college weight room.  According to published reports which quoted Bowman, he was also being recruited by Virginia, Maryland and New Mexico.  The commitment came while he was visiting family in the Washington D.C. area the weekend before last.  Bowman should have ample opportunity to play right away for Georgetown.

Thus far, Georgetown's head coach Craig Esherick has gotten some mixed news this fall:  While the commitment of Bowman is nice for the Hoyas, of more immediate concern is the fact that Demetrius Hunter (6'-2" So. PG) has decided to move back to Las Vegas, where he's enrolled at UNLV and will redshirt this season.    Esherick has also gotten a couple of other commitments, but they won't help for this year or next:  In fact, they're currently from this year's high school junior class of 2003.  Those commits are Robert McIver (6'-2" Jr. SG) from Redan HS in Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Darian Townes (6'-8" Jr. PF) from T.C. Williams HS in Alexandria, VA.
