Redesigned & Improved
"Strictly SoCal" Links--(Sept. 6, 2001)

We've spent some time lately redesigning and correcting a lot of broken links in an effort to improve functionality here at SoCalHoops.  And we'll be making a few more changes in the weeks to come....some subtle, some not.

One of our best features has always been the plethora of links to other sites.  The beauty of the internet for years was the ability to share information at lightning speed, the ability to be in Los Angeles, then in Seattle, then in New York, or in the Valley or South Central LA, or Long Beach....in short anywhere else there was another website to visit.  Of course, the landscape of the internet is changing, and while many complain that it's now nothing more than a glorified yellow-pages, a subscription-only version of the Reader's Digest, there's still a lot of info to be had for free too.

We're not complaining, and we'll continue to provide links to both free and pay sites.  But as a result of the constant flux and the series of implosions and meltdowns which the tech world has experienced in the last year, a lot of sites changed their URL's.  Some sites folded and disappeared entirely, while others which had folded arose from the ashes with entirely new web addresses.  In short, it's been tough to keep up with current and functional links when each month there are sites coming and going....but we're trying.

So as a part of our effort to stay current in the constantly changing environment, we've slightly (really slightly) redesigned the look our "Strictly SoCal" links, and we've now included functional links to virtually every major (and minor) college program and conference with a presence in the Southern California region, from D-I to JUCO.   We've provided new and improved links to every team in each of the conferences so you can keep up not only on the teams in the region, but also the competition. And for traditional print media fans, we've also checked and double-checked the links to virtually every newspaper in the region with a website.   We can't promise that the newspapers will continue to provide the same coverage we've been used to for the past few years, but at least we're providing links here.... Next on our list of "to-do's" is a redesigned look for our high school links, in anticipation of our new season of high school team previews....coming soon.

So, if you know about a site that we've missed, or you spot a dead link, be sure to let us know.  Just click the "SoCalHoops" logo below to send us an e-mail.   Enjoy.
