Keion Kindred Commits
To UTEP--(Oct. 8, 2001)

Congratulations are again in order for the hardest working assistant in all of college basketball, Silvey Dominguez.  The former USC assistant began working on Keion Kindred (6'-4" Sr. PG) from Compton Dominguez a long time ago, putting in time with the Dominguez guard (Keion was one of the few to remain at Dominguez after the mass exodus this fall, which has seen Bobby Jones transfer to Long Beach Poly, Darius Sanders move to Lynwood, where he's playing football, Samir Hernandez transfer to Gardena Serra, et. al, ad infinitum).   Today, it was reported by a number of recruiting services, including Mark Mayemura's and Dave Benezra's Recruiting USA and Greg Hicks and Tracy Pierson's PrepWestHoops that Keion committed this weekend to the Miners.

Keion was among the handful of players in this year's senior class from California to attend ABCD, and he really had a stellar camp, playing in the backcourt alongside Crenshaw's Marcus Williams (6'-2" Jr. PG), and on the same team (but in a different lineup) as Florida-commit Anthony Roberson (6'-2" Sr. PG) from Saginaw, Michigan, so this squad was not lacking for attention from the colleges.   Keion had told us some time ago that he was leaning toward the Miners, and we suspected that a commitment was imminent, and its nice to see Coach Jason Rabedeaux and Silvey picking up such a solid commitment.  Keion is a great ballhandler, solid, with a D-I body and excellent speed and strength.  A great pickup for the Miners.
