Westchester's Ashanti Cook
Will Become A Lobo--(Oct. 16, 2001)

Within the past few days, Ashanti Cook (6'-2" Sr. PG) from Westchester announced that he will follow former teammate Chad Bell (7'-0" C) to New Mexico.  Cook is a solid point guard, who for the past two seasons has really been the mainstay of the offense, on a team that has featured what would be an embarrassment of riches for most college teams, let alone other high schools.  Westchester has really featured three rotations of five starters, and last year coach Ed Azzam rotated these groups platoon-style.  Cook attended ABCD this summer, where he played great and has been consistently listed among our top 15 point guards in SoCal for the past three years.  Ashanti was also recruited by UCLA and several other big-time west coast schools and is an excellent pickup for head coach Fran Fraschilla.   Ashanti will join other SoCal natives at New Mexico, including Ruben Douglas, Jamaal Williams, Marlon Parmer, and Chad Bell.
