Two More Commitments: Josh Davis to
UCSB,
Cody Horning To Pepperdine--(Oct. 16, 2001)
UC Santa Barbara also picked up a commitment from Josh Davis (6'-4" Sr. SF/SG) from Elk Grove HS in Sacramento who was outstanding this summer at the second session of the West Coast All Stars Camp. Davis was also being recruited by a number of other schools in the West, including UTEP, Santa Clara University, Cal and Oregon. He's a tremendously talented player, very athletic, a slasher who can take the ball to the basket and kill opponents, and he's a great defender as well. Davis will be joined by Glen Turner (6'-9" Sr. F) from Overfelt HS in San Jose.
And according to Greg Hicks at PrepWestHoops, UCSB's loss is Pepperdine's gain: The Waves have picked up a commitment from Cody Horning (6'-7" Sr. F) from Longmont HS in Longmont, Colorado, who was reportedly down to either the Gauchos or Pepperdine before he made a decision. Horning visited Pepperdine this past weekend, and reportedly loved the school. We don't really know enough about Horning to say anything useful or enlightening, so we won't. But with a senior and junior-heavy roster, Pepperdine has been looking for athletic wings, and with Gib Arnold and Jim Neilsen beating the bushes, we're sure this guy is going to be an interesting pickup for the Waves.
