San Diego's Moulaye Niang
Commits To Kansas--(Oct. 16, 2001)

Moulaye Niang (6'-10" Sr. C) from San Diego El Cajon Christian has given a verbal to Coach Roy Williams at the University of Kansas. Moulaye, who averaged 12.5 ppg and 10 rebounds last season, told Gary Bedore of the Lawrence (Kansas) World Journal that his choice was made easy by the way the fans treated him at Midnight Madness: "I am really excited to go to school at Kansas. I knew it would be good, but it was much more than I expected. The fans … the love they have for the players was so great."

Moulaye, a native of Senegal, played this year played for a revamped "High Five America" team which featured several players from San Diego, as well as one from OC, Travis Niesen, who has committed to Santa Clara.  In previous years, Moulaye worked out individually with Ollie Goulston and appeared in several Fullcourt Press showcase games and tournaments.  Moulaye was also being recruited by UConn, San Diego State and several other D-I's.

Also committing to Kansas was Jeff Graves (6'-9" So. PF), a tough JUCO power forward who attends Iowa Western City College. Graves was being recruited by Long Beach State, Illinois, Iowa State, Missouri, Florida State and Louisville, and is considered by many who follow JUCO recruiting to be one of the nation's Top 25 junior college sophomores.
