Rockfish's Wes Wardrop
Commits To LMU--(Oct. 1, 2001)
LMU has picked up yet another verbal, this time from Wes Wardrop (6'-3" Sr. PG/SG) who originally is from SoCal and who played at Loara HS in Orange County before transferring back to a prep school in the east (Worcester Academy, Worcester, MA). Wardrop visited LMU this past weekend on an official visit, and evidently got along great with the coaches, well enough that he canceled a planned in-home visit this week with Northwestern who had also been recruitng him. Wes is a solid ball-handler, able to shoot out to midrange with great reliability, and he's a tough and tenacious defender with nice quickness. In short, he's a great get for Coach Steve Aggers and the LMU Lions. According to one of Wes' club coaches, Mark Mayemura (who in addition to coaching for Rockfish also runs the Recruiting USA website as well as reporting on recruiting for ESPN) Wardrop will sign in the fall.
Wardrop will join other LMU signees from the class of 2002, including John Haywood (6'-5" Sr. SF) from Bishop Amat in La Puente (who also played with Rockfish), and Brandon Worthy (6'-3" Sr. G) who reportedly committed to the Lions a few weeks ago. All in all, it's shaping up to be a great class for Aggers.
