Some Visits This Weekend:
Two Headed East--(Oct. 16, 2001)
Pat Haddan (6'-1" Sr. PG) from Woodbridge, will make a visit back east this weekend to Penn. Joining him on the trip will be Darryl Pegram (6'-8" Sr. F), originally from SoCal, but who has been attending Worcestor Academy (along with former Rockfish teammate Wes Wardrop who recently committed to LMU). Haddan has been mentioned with a number of programs over the past few months, including Stanford, but it looks like he won't be looking at the Cardinal, and instead will focus on schools in the East and a few others here in the West. Two weeks ago, Haddan took an official visit to Cal Poly (SLO). He had been receiving attention from Princeton, but with the recent commitment of Scott Greenman (5'-11" Sr. PG) from St. Augustine HS in New Jersey, things may have changed, although our sources continue to tell us that the Tigers are looking to get more than one point guard out of this year's class.
Pegram's recruiting has been sort of curious too, and he was reportedly getting attention from a number of Atlantic 10 schools as well as some Big 10 programs (e.g., Colorado), but an Ivy might be a great spot for the long, lean and agile SoCal native.
Last weekend Trevor Ariza (6'-6" Jr. SF/SG), one of the top wing prospects in the country, attended Midnight Madness at the University of North Carolina, accompanied by Dinos Trigonis, and he reportedly enjoyed the trip very much. Also in attendance was Brad Buckman who played this summer with the Double Pump squad, accompanied by his high school coach Clifton McNeely. According to the guys at Recruiting USA, Ariza is also getting attention from Duke and Florida, and from R-USA other sources we hear that Billy Donovan might actually have an edge given the fact that Ariza has family in the Florida area.
And according to Dinos Trigonis at FullcourtPress, little known Joshua Myles (6'-1" Sr. PG) from Bishop Amat visited D-III Williams College (Williamstown MA) recently. Dinos also reports that Crenshaw's Onye Ibekewe (6'-6" Sr. F) will visit Boston College later in the month, while
Finally, Dinos reports that Jamaal Hall (6'-3" Sr. SG) from Muir, who is a teammate of Hollins, is down to three schools now: UC Irvine, Saint Mary's, and Sacramento State, and there's no doubt that the latter two schools are in desperate need of some talent if they hope to improve next season, and they could really use a player of Hall's talents.
