A coupel of days ago, we posted a brief blurb about the 50th Annual Pacific Shores Tournament, giving you all kinds of information, but most of it generalized stuff. Now we can start getting down to the nitty-gritty. Who's playing who, where, and when. And again, just so you're suitably excited about this, there will be 16 top teams with tons of top prospects included, with familiar names such as Redondo Union (Adam Zahn, Paul Meynen, Walter White, Keith Ellison, etc); Fairfax (UCLA commit Evan Burns, Alex Bausley, Kevin Bell, Cal Poly commit Fernando Sampson, and a phenomenal freshman who has the potential to be the best player ever to come out of Fairfax....); Bishop Montgomery (Fred Washington, Gavin Lee and some new faces); Crossroads (sans Isaiah Fox, it's a new day); San Diego Horizon (Nate Carter); Luezinger (Derrick Clark); Hawthorne; Long Beach Jordan; Narbonne; Valencia; Locke; St. Monica (Hampton Nunley); and Gardena.
The tournament semifinals in the Championship bracket will take place on Thursday, November 29, and the Championship game is Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. All games are at Redondo Union HS, which is located at 631 Vincent Park, Redondo Beach, CA 90277 (clicking on the link will take you to Mapquest, where you can enter your own data to find the best route to the tournament).
The first round of the tournament is a "play-in" "play-out" which means that the winners of each first round game will go into the Championship, upper half of the bracket, and the losers of the first game will drop into the bottom half, Consolation side of the bracket. The first round games are as follows:

Loser Game W13 N. Gym 11th Place Time???. Loser Game W14 |
The only odd part of the bracket that we were provided that we really can't figure out is the slot for the 11th place game. The printed bracket we have shows that the 11th place game is supposed to be played "Wed. 7:30 p.m." in the N. Gym. Which of course conflicts with the game we've identified as "L-12" which is the second round matchup of the losers of the first round matchups between Bishop Montgomery v. St. Monica, and Fairfax v. Gardena. Normally the 11th place game would be a game between the losers of the games shown as L13 and L14 on the bracket above, and since those two games aren't being played until Thursday, we're positive the bracket we received has an error, and that instead that 11th place game is supposed to take place on Saturday. The only thing we don't know is the time, but we're betting it's supposed to be at either 12:00 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. because every other slot in the North Gym is filled on Saturday. Sheesh, this stuff can be so complicated sometimes....
See you there.
