The official CIF season started yesterday. As we've done in year's past, we will continue to pass along scores and game details where they are available and can be obtained either from those who send them to us or from the local papers. If you know of a game that we missed, a score unreported, send it in along with whatever details you know about.

Buena Park 59, Saddleback 44--DeAndre Robinson scored 19 points and had two steals while Zach Parker scored 13 points with five rebounds to lead the Coyotes (1-0) over the Roadrunners (0-1). Robert Gonzalez finished with 13 points for the Roadrunners. Brandon Simms had five assists for Buena Park
La Palma Kennedy 50, Aliso Niguel 47--Ramy Farag led all scorers with 22 for Aliso Niguel (0-1).
Sunny Hills 102, Rancho Alamitos 62--Tony Gonzalez and Jon Shaw each scored a game-high 21 points and Brandyn Toney added 20 Monday to lead Sunny Hills over Rancho Alamitos, 102-62, in a first-round game at the Coyote Classic at Buena Park High. Tony Gonzalez had six rebounds, six assists and seven steals and Clay Carmody had 20 points for the Lancers (1-0). Will Jackson led the Vaqueros (0-1) with 17 points.
La Habra Tournament
Pool Play
El Dorado 73, Savanna 48--David Patten scored 18 points and Kyle Miller had 16 for El Dorado (1-0).
La Habra 62, Santa Ana Calvary Chapel 52--Marcellus Robertson had 23 points and Josh Salo had 12 points for La Habra (1-0). Sophomore Jared Hurst scored 14 points, David Mamelli had 10 points and Sean Sullivan had three three-pointers for Calvary Chapel (0-1).
Rowland 61, Pioneer 37--Sophomore guard Larry Tieu scored 14 points to lead the Raiders; Adam Wong scored seven points. Wong also had four assists and three steals for Rowland (1-0). Shon Pruitt and Marques Smith both had nice starts to the season with 12 and eight points, respectively, for the Raiders. The Titans were led by Carlos Martinez, who scored 10 points. Mike Pubalza chipped in with seven points and David Ochoa had six points for Pioneer (0-1). Rowland will play Santa Ana Calvary Chapel in pool play next.

Costa Mesa 77, Servite 49--The Mustangs shot 65% from the field and 91% from the line as Costa Mesa cruised over Servite in a first round game on Monday. Senior Chad Vakili finished with a game high 30 points for CM while teammate David Conte scored 24 for the Mustangs. Junior Danny Krikorian added eight points and senior Carlos Jaime added seven. Esperanza 73, Placentia Valencia 51--Mark Lovein scored 21 points to lead Esperanza (1-0).
Mira Costa Tournament

Serra 48, West Torrance 46-- West Torrance's boys basketball team couldn't finish an impressive comeback and fell short by two points, as Serra went stone cold in the four quarter. West outscored Serra, 18-0, in the final period. With two seconds left, West Torrance's Jon Wilson missed the front end of a 1-and-1 which could have tied the game. Eugene Jeter led Serra (1-0) with 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Eric McNeal scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Eugene Hackett had eight points and six rebounds. Dewayne Hollyfield scored 19 for West Torrance (0-1).
Peninsula 68, St. Bernard's 43--Kevin Gardner scored 28 points for Peninsula (1-0). Kurt Graeber added eight points for the Panthers. St. Bernard (0-1) was led by Bruce Bevans with 17 points.

Redondo Union 98, L A Jefferson 72--Keith Ellison scored 30 points on 12-for-16 shooting, including four 3-pointers, picking off nine steals, and dished out eight assists. He also pulled down seven rebounds for the tournament host Sea Hawks (1-0). Wendell White and Paul Meynen each scored 15 points for Redondo. Meynen finished with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Charles Walker had 12 points and senior forward Adam Zahn scored 11 points. Jefferson was led by Gary White's 19 points and Jerry Forrest's 17.

American League
Stoneridge Prep 128, Summit View West 16--Leon Usher scored 26 points and James Spencer had 18 for Stoneridge Prep (1-0, 1-0).
Desert Valley League
Palm Desert 83, Desert Hot Springs 43--Chase McQuillen scored 20 points and Donald Brady had 17 for Palm Desert (1-0, 1-0). The Aztecs opened with a 20-2 run and made 12 of their first 18 shots. Josh Zazulia finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Jimmy Bohm chipped in with 13. Everyone on Palm Deserts roster scored at least two points. DHS turned the ball over nine times in the opening quarter, 24 times in the game. Hakeem Ray and Sal Corrnel led the Golden Eagles by scoring 10 points apiece. Mike Thompson scored nine points and Mateo Ortega, Greg McSwain and Hershon Moore scored four points apiece.

Dorsey 69, Pasadena 43--Gary Hamilton had 12 points to lead Dorsey.
Eisenhower 90, Perris 48--Cory McJimson scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his Eisenhower debut and Sean Marshall scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Eagles in the season opener. Johnny Dukes had 12 points and Jon Sheilds added 10 points for Eisenhower.The Eagles opened the game on a 7-0 run. Marshall scored first, followed by a layup by point guard John Shields and then a three-pointer by Dukes. Ike closed the quarter on a 10-2 run highlighted, with Marshall adding five more points. Marshall led the Eagles with 18 points despite sitting out nearly all of the fourth quarter. McJimson added 16 points, including 10 in the third quarter, while Dukes had 12 points. The Eagles had a balanced offense, with 12 different players scoring. Andrew Green was the only player in double figures for Perris with 13 points and was 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.
El Toro 68, Santa Ana 40--El Toro opened a 22-8 first quarter lead behind freshmen Patrick Carney's seven points and freshman Darryl Best's eight points. They finished with 15 apiece. El Toro is 1-0, and Santa Ana is 0-1. Kevin England had seven points with six rebounds for the Chargers.
Fillmore 62, Nordhoff 45 --Armando Ferrer scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead host Fillmore. Buddy Edwards added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Flashes, who outscored Nordhoff 23-6 in the final quarter. Joey Mele had 23 points and Micah Nylander added nine for Nordhoff. Chad Fore had nine assists to lead host Fillmore (1-0).
Fullerton 43, Western Christian 42--Darren Fells made a free throw, blocked a shot and got the game-winning rebound in the final 16 seconds.

Oaks Christian 87, AGBU 33--Oaks Christian got 19 points from Mark Michaelson to defeat AGBU 87-33 at Oaks Christian in their first varsity game ever for the new school which last year played a JV schedule. Mike Hornbuckle had 14 points and Brandon Denham added 13 for Oaks Christian. Chris Sammy had 11 points for AGBU. Oaks Christian held AGBU to just 22 points over the final three quarters.
