Twin Pines 80, South Bay 43 --Jason Buschbaum had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead Twin Pines (1-3).
Garden Grove League
Pacifica 52, Rancho Alamitos 46--Milton Vidaurre had 15 points and Jason Brock had 12 points and four rebounds Pacifica (4-6, 1-0). Rancho Alamitos is 0-10, 0-1.
Los Amigos 61, La Quinta 41 --Hector Degante and Chris Jalem scored 12 points each to lead Los Amigos (5-7,1-0).
Liberty League
Yeshiva 86, Avalon 47 --Adi Isaacs had 30 points, making seven of 11 three-pointers.
San Joaquin League
Acaciawood 49, Tarbut V'Torah 47 --Jesse Cope had 24 points, including a key free throw with four seconds remaining, to lead Acaciawood (4-4).

Arrowhead Christian 68, Bishop Diego 50 --Senior 6-5 center Josh Breckley scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the visiting Eagles (5-0) as they defeated the Cardinals (6-5) in a nonleague game. Sophomore 5-8 guard Alan Lewis had 11 points, six assists, and three steals for Arrowhead Christian. Junior 5-11 forward Jacob Goltry had 11 points and six steals. The Eagles' second-quarter press caused problems for the Cardinals, who were defeated at home in a nonleague matchup. Pat Minehan led Bishop Diego (6-5) with 20 points, but the Cardinals committed more than 20 turnovers and were whistled for 23 fouls. Bishop Diego will next play in a fund-raiser for the basketball programs. Two alumni games will be played, starting at 5 p.m. Friday at Bishop Diego. La Salle 70, Arcadia 66 --Jeremiah De Leon had 17 points to lead host La Salle (7-4). Anthony Napolitano added 16 for the Lancers, who held off the Apaches.
Laguna Hills 64, Corona del Mar 54 --The Laguna Hills Hawks improved to (6-6), defeating Corona del Mar (3-8). Corona del Mar was led by Kevin Mancillas' 24 points off the bench, while junior Bret Matsen added 10 points. Pilibos 58, LA Lutheran 49 --Tony Park had 24 points and 12 rebounds for L.A. Lutheran (3-3).
Pomona 59, Montclair 40-- Odell Howard scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 12 boards as the Red Devils improve to 7-4. Quincy Fields was the high scorer for Montclair with 12 points. Damarian Woods added 10 points as the Red Devils increased their 13-point halftime advantage with a 17-8 third-quarter run.

Redlands East Valley 92, San Gorgonio 78 -- Trailing by 11 at the half, Redlands East Valley outscored San Bernardino San Gorgonio 51-26 in the second half for a non-league victory. The Wildcats outscored San Gorgonio 22-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away. In the fourth, Anthony Smith scored 7 of his 22 points and Walter Wallace had eight of his 12 points to lead REV. Warren 49, Alhambra 40--Seniors Ekber Djokovic, Dennis Moore and Jonathan Edwards combined to scored 33 of the Bears' 49 points in their win over the Moors.
Whitewater 77, Peace In The Valley 59 -- Kenneth Johnson pulled down eight assists and led the team in scoring in his last game with Whitewater to help in the victory over Fontana Peace in the Valley in a non-league game. San Pedro 63, Belmont 33--The Pirates (4-6) outscored Belmont 38-11 in the second half and cruised to a 30-point victory. Senior center Ryan Johnson led San Pedro's balanced attack with 10 points and Houston Magee chipped in with 9. Ten other Pioneers scored. Houston Magee scored all of his nine points in the first half, and visiting San Pedrooutscored Belmont, 38-11, in the second half to take the nonleague game at Belmont.

Anaheim Convention Center Tournament
First Round
Cypress 63, Esperanza 50 --Matthew Reid had 22 points and Dominique Ricks had 20 for Cypress. Mark Lovein had 13 points to lead Esperanza. Reid led all scorers with 22 points. A 6-foot-2 senior guard, Reid scored on drives, outside shots and everything in between and was a force on defense. Ronald Dross, a similarly quick senior guard, scored 13 points and might be the Centurions' best outside shooter. Dominique Ricks, a 6-4 junior, scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Esperanza (8-2), which won the Taco Company Invitational two weeks ago, stayed with Cypress through the first quarter, which ended in a 13-13 tie. The Aztecs missed their first four shots of the second quarter, helping Cypress build a 21-13 lead. The closest they would come to the lead for the rest of the game would be five points. The Aztecs' Mark Lovein, a 6-8 junior who was the most valuable player of the Taco Company Invitational, scored a team-high 13 points. Cypress will play Villa Park tonight.
Villa Park 49, Aliso Niguel 21 --Kyle Hogan and Brice Prather had 11 points each for Villa Park (8-0). Sean Phaler had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans.
El Toro 54, Savanna 32 --Darryl Best had 11 points and Jonathan Johnson and Patrick Carney had 10 points apiece for El Toro (6-2). Savanna is 2-6.
Kennedy 38, Newport Harbor 35 --Ikechi Njoku had 14 points and Rhema McKnight had 11 points for Kennedy. Newport Harbor was led by Tony Melum with 11 points. The Kennedy High boys basketball team handed Newport Harbor a rather unconventional 38-35 loss Wednesday in the first round of the Anaheim Convention Center Holiday Classic. The Sailors missed all 15 third-quarter field-goal attempts and finished 3 of 30 from the field in the second half. The Tars went nine minutes and 34 seconds without a field goal, spanning the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the fourth. The designated hosts went nearly 15 minutes with only one field goal, beginning with 6:03 left in the first half and ending with Tony Melum's three-pointer with 6:13 left in the game. Newport committed five turnovers in the second and third quarters, to help the Fighting Irish turn a 17-9 first-quarter deficit into a 29-26 lead heading into the final eight minutes. Harbor netted just 6 of 14 free throws, four of their last 12, to help squander the lead. The 35 points are the fewest in 70 games for the Sailors. Kennedy (7-1) hit just 16 of 52 (30.8%). Melum finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Pajevic collected eight points, 10 rebound and five blocked shots. Silverado 65, San Luis Obispo 52--Silverado improved to 4-3 with the victory. Jim Jorgeson had 20 points for San Luis Obispo. Sophomore 6-2 guard Jaimie Lester scored 14 points for the Hawks (4-3) as they defeated the Tigers (4-5) in a first round Arroyo Grande Tournament game. Senior 6-3 guard Ryan Diggs had 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists for Silverado. Junior 6-5 forward Ash Dabbas also had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Thousand Oaks 89, Atascadero 50 --Kevin Rex scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for Thousand Oaks (6-1). C.J. Handlos and Dave Anderson each scored 16 points for the Lancers, who made eight of 16 three-pointers. Atascadero is 4-4. Thousand Oaks plays Templeton today at 3:30. Grant (LA) 61, Eagle Rock (LA) 43 --Gino Riney scored 26 points for Grant (3-3). Riney was a one-man show for the Lancers (3-3), also picking off 10 steals and dishing out six assists. Grant held the Eagles to six first-quarter points and led by 23 at the end of the third quarter before a bench-clearing substitution.
University (LA) 84, Van Nuys (LA) 53 -- Ruben Boykin had 27 points to lead University (6-1).
Poly (LA) 66, Cleveland (LA) 63 (OT)--Nick Young had 22 points and 14 rebounds for Cleveland (3-4) in a losing effort against Poly (4-4). Edmin Johnson scored with seconds remaining in regulation for Cleveland to send the game into overtime. David Lopez, who had five assists, hit two free throws with four seconds left in overtime to give the Parrots of Sun Valley (4-4) their final points, forcing the Cavaliers of Reseda (2-4) to take a 35-foot shot that missed at the buzzer. Adam Townsend and Emilio Sandoval each had 17 points for Poly. Townsend had 15 rebounds and Sandoval had six steals and four assists.

Westchester 88, Miami Christian 55 --Keith Everage had 17 points and seven rebounds to help lift Westchester (7-0) into Friday's semifinals. Westchester, ranked No. 1 USA Today, led Miami Christian (9-2) at halftime, 51-27. Weschester's Brandon Heath had 15 points and three steals, while Trevor Ariza added 12 rebounds. Westchester (7-0) started the game with a 30-13 first-quarter run and never looked back, holding a 51-27 advantage at halftime. Scott Cutley Ariza added 11 for Westchester, which advanced to Friday's semifinals. Miami Christian is 9-2.

Century 39, Whitney 28 --David Sok had 14 points to lead Century (6-3). Whitney is 5-5.
Estancia 65, Whittier Christian 36--Jorge Prado made four three-pointers and had 24 points and six assists, and Fernando Maldonado chipped in with 13 points for Estancia (5-4). Coach Chris Sorce's Eagles will face high-flying Orange (9-0) in the championship semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Western. Estancia and Orange are two of the tournament's four pool winners. Estancia, also led by senior guard Fernando Maldonado's 13 points, finished 21 of 24 from the foul line (88%), including 11 of 12 in the first half. In the third quarter, Prado scored 10 straight points for Estancia, ignited by a three-pointer with 5:47 left in the period and capped by another three-pointer with 3:39 on the clock to give the Eagles a 47-23 lead. Joey Lindquist (eight rebounds), a 6-7 junior, scored on a putback with 3:14 to play to crown the Eagles' second-half opening 16-4 run. Cajon 59, Stockdale (Bakersfield) 41-- San Bernardino Cajon 6-foot-2 senior forward Andre Payne scored 15 of his 20 points in the first half and the Cowboys defeated Bakersfield Stockdale in the quarterfinals of the Irvine World News Classic.
