Crenshaw Cougars At The Whataburger
Classic In Texas--(Dec. 26, 2001)

When we posted our recap of "other" top national tournaments, we mentioned the Whataburger Basketball Tournament in Ft. Worth, Texas and noted "No Bishop Montgomery this year (they won it last year) and it looks like all Texas teams...."

Well, we were wrong.

Crenshaw is playing in the tournament, in the "5-A" division (which is the largest enrollment division for Texas schools).   There are two other divisions, 3-A and 4-A, but we don't need to be concerned with them here.....

The schedule for Crenshaw's division is as follows for the first day of competition, December 27, 2001 (all times are Central Standard):

We have no real idea about the teams in this tournament, but the website does have some information.  If you want to follow the progress of Crenshaw throughout the tournament, the official website is probably the place to look.   There's actually quite a history to this tournament (you may find it on their website, you may not), and if you're interested, just do a "Search SoCalHoops" using "Whataburger" as the keyword, and you'll come up with some of our articles from prior years.
