When Wayne Merino coached the Artesia guys in the off-season they were known as QBL (Quality Basketball Lakewood). Now that Wayne is gone, Scott Pera will be running the team during the summer as AST. This is the roster which appeared at the Pumps' Easter Tournament. Theyh will not be playing at Mats' Madness in Fresno, but we would anticipate that they will play mostly locally, at tournaments being run by Jeff Day now under the name "Best in the West." We know that several of the Artesia kids will be playing for others at some of the travel-all-star events (e.g. Ronald Allen and Ryan Meilleur are reported to be playing with the H-Squad in Fresno), but beyond that time will tell.
