CIF HS Games: Results & Details From

We are pulling into the home stretch, the next-to last week of regular season games before the playoffs begin.  Here's what we know about Tuesday's games gathered from reports sent to us from team representatives, coaches, players and parents, as well as what we've been able to gather from local newspapers and websites. If you know of a game that we missed, a score that is unreported, or some details that we're missing, send it in via e-mail.

Academy League

Calvary Chapel Downey 72, St. Margaret's 53 --Visiting CCD (19-4, 7-0) was led by sophomore shooting guard Ralph Miley who scored 26 points and Utah-bound senior point guard Tim Drisdom with 23 points.  St. Margaret's (9-8, 5-2) was led by Paul Janczyk with 20 points, Scott McEwan's 11 and Jared Kettler's 10 points.

Sage Hill 65, Capistrano Valley Christian 48 --Visiting Sage Hill (7-7, 4-3) kept its playoff hopes alive as Mike Fitzhugh led with 24 points and Eric Williams finished with 20 points for the Lightning in the win over Capo Valley Christian (5-12, 1-6), which got 17 points from VBen Meyers and 16 from Alex Yuhaz.   Sage Hill 19 12 22 12 - 65 Capo Valley Christian 9 10 14 15 - 48 Sage Hill - Brewer 8, Wilkins 2, Cho 2, Williams 20, Fitzhugh 24, Friedrichs 4, Tanney 3, Cochran 1, Swanson 1, Youssef 0, Loper 0. 3-pt. goals - Brewer 1, Tanney 1. Agape League

Antelope Valley Christian 69, Bethel Christian 31 --AVC's sophomore guard, Jeremiah Nurse had 12 points as did teammate Tony Uebelhardt(14-6, 6-1).

Apple Valley Christian 69, Hesperia Christian 50  --Host Hesperia Christian(12-8, 3-4), attempting to avoid revenge for their win over Apple Valley (18-1, 7-0) in December, was unable to hold off Ryan Manahl who finished with a career high 22 points including 11 of 18 first quarter points for AVC.  After Manahl got in some foul trouble, the Dillon brothers Kevin and Josh took over with 21 and 16 points respectively. Hesperia Christian kept it close in the first half trailing only 33-25 in the first half. The Warriors opened the second half with a 11-2 run and HCS never got back into it. HCS's three point shooting stars never got going with Josh Hamilton finishing with 10 points, Bryan Glass 7, and Jesse McDonald with 6. HCS' Nate Patterson had 13 points and Trevor Wagstaffe had 9 points. HCS 15 10 12 13--50;  AVC 18 15 21 15 69


Almont League

Bell Gardens 63, San Gabriel 52 --Host Bell Gardens (8-15, 4-3) was led by Gary Klarer with 16 points.

Montebello 51, Alhambra 37 --Ian Parks scored 11 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for Montabello (17-6, 7-0). Eric Chung scored 14 points for Alhambra (3-4). The Oilers got off to a slow start early and trailed 9-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Schurr 67, Keppel 54 --host Schurr (10-11, 5-2) was led by Shaun Oshita with 15 points. The win kept Schurr in second place in the league standings behind Montebello. The Spartans had four players score in double digits, and in addition to Oshita, Nathan Negrete had 14 points, Sean Odou had 13 points and Eiji Fuji had 10.


Alpha League

La Verne Lutheran 88, California School for the Deaf, Riverside 63--Brandon Theus scored 24 points and had 13 assists and Larry Freeman scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while David Beckett added 17 points and eight rebounds for the La Verne Trojans (11-8, 4-5) in the win over visiting CSDR (8-10, 4-7). Santa Ana Valley 57, El Modena 55 --Martin Gonzalez made a lay-up with two seconds remaining to lift visiting Santa Ana Valley (16-7, 5-2). Alex Oregel scored 17 points. Jerard Rabb scored 28 points for El Modena (13-10, 5-2).

Villa Park 71, Canyon 47 --Villa Park (20-3, 6-1) was led by senior Brice Prather with 23 points, while junior Kyle Hogan had 11 points and 13 rebounds in the win over Canyone (7-15, 2-5) which got 17 points from Derron Putnam.


Christian League

Arrowhead Christian 67,  Calvary Chapel Murrieta 62 -- Arrowhead (4-5 league) picked up the win over Calvary Chapel (10-10, 2-6) which got 26 points in the loss from Ryan Evans, and four steals, while Luke Wilkerson finished with 11.  Visiting CCM led Arrowhead Christian most of the way, including 53-49 at the end of the thrid, but lost three starters to fouls in the fourth.  Ryan Evans, Luke Wilkerson and Doug Gausepohl all fouled out.

Loma Linda Academy 59, Linfield 45 --details not available.

Ontario Christian 66, Woodcrest Christian 61 --Travis Hoekstra had 22 points, 18 in the second half, to lead host Ontario Christian (16-5, 6-3). Sean Lacey had 20 points for Woodcrest Christian. The Knights trailed 35-27 at the half and outscored the Royals 19-9 in the third quarter to take a 46-44 lead into the final quarter.  Ontario's Chris Garcia added 14, while Don VandenBerg and Greg Talen had nine apiece.


Citrus Belt League

Eisenhower 73, AB Miller 65--The Eisenhower Eagles (20-2, 7-0) blew all but three points of a 16-point fourth-quarter lead before righting themselves in time for a 73-65 victory over A.B. Miller (18-6, 4-3) at Eisenhower.  The victory clinched the team's third straight Citrus Belt League title.  Sean Marshall scored 29 points, including 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final 1:11 for Ike and had 11 rebounds.  The Rebels led 19-10 in the first quarter on Jeremiah Ward's 3-pointer with 2:13 to play. Miller still led 27-19 in the second quarter before the Eagles rallied to take a 32-31 halftime lead.  Ward finished with 26 ;oints, 19 in the first half.  T.J. Smith had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Jacob Ramirez scored 11 points. Eisenhower got 16 points from Corey McJimson. AB Miller -- Ramirez 11, Michel 12, Ware 0, Brown 0, Ward 26, Pruitt 2, Smith 6, Ragland 5, Kovach 3.  Eisenhower -- Marshall 29, McJimson 16, Dukes 5, Moss 2, Perry 3, Burke 5, Jones 7, Shields 6.  Halftime score -- Eisenhower 32-31. Fontana 68, Redlands 48-- Daryl Diggins scored 20 points and Trayvon Williams finished with 10 for the Steelers (8-10, 4-3), who led 16-4 after the first quarter. Redlands' Ryan Rogers, the Terriers' (2-5 in league) point guard, injured a knee late in the first half and did not return.

Montclair Prep 69, Campbell Hall 52 --Junior transfer Nick Stiggers finished with 28 points for Montclair Prep (10-10, 5-1), while Campbell Hall (8-13, 2-5) was led by Matt Llewelyn with 17 points.


Desert Mountain League

Silver Valley 72, Boron 51 --Silver Valley (5-17, 3-5) was led by Ricky Johnson with 18 points and Larry Lipsey with 17.

Victor Valley 67, Granite Hills 43 --Victor Valley (17-5, 3-2) was led by Davion Price with 18 points.


Desert Sky League

Silverado 68, Ridgecrest Burroughs 55 --Visiting Silverado (15-8, 6-0) got 22 points from Ryan Diggs in the win over host Ridgecrest Burroughs (12-10, 3-3).


Desert Valley League

Cathedral City 96, Desert Hot Springs 55 Brandon Gray scored 16 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks and all 13 players for Cathedral City (16-6, 8-1) scored. Jason Edmonds scored 12 points for Desert Hot Springs (5-13, 1-8 in league). Austin Oglesby scored 12 and Matt Buchhiet scored 10. Desert Hot Springs -- Thompson 4, McSwain 3, Ortega 11, Edmonds 12, Cortez 7, Moore 8, Ramos 10.  Cathedral City -- Aguinaldo 6, Green 6, Otteson 6, Bradley 6, Gray 16, Simerson 4, Lee 9, Buchhiet 10, Oglesby 12, Brown 7, Lewis 2, T. Coachella Valley 63, Palm Springs 58--Christian Limon scored 20 points and Nate Ramos scored 16 as the Arabs defeated the Indians.  Derreck Carlton added 12 for Coachella Valley.

Palm Desert 64, Indio 56-- Donald Brady,  Jr., scored 19 points for Palm Desert (20-4, 10-0) in the win over Indio (13-8, 6-3).  The victory secured Palm Desert’s first 20-victory season.   Depending on which paper you read (the Desert Sun or the Riverside P.E.) the scoring was dramatically different.  In the Sun this was the scoring:  Chase McQuillen finished with 14 points for Palm Desert and Jash Zazulia scored seven points.  Indio senior forward Andres Nieto finished with six rebounds, four steals and five assists.    Indio: Rodney King 17, Earl Issacson 16, Johnny Horta 6, Daniel Cruz 6, Jesus Perez 5, David Brown 3, Anthony Lopez 2, Andres Nieto 1 Palm Desert: Donald Brady 19, Josh Zazulia 14, Chase McQuillen 14, Quintin Watkins 7, Jimmy Bohm 6, Joe Johnson 2, Jacob Broyles 2 3-pointers: Indio 3 (Perez, Horta, Cruz), Palm Desert 3 (Brady 2)   In the PE, here's the scoring they reported:  Indio -- Nieto 1, King 17, Cruz 6, Issacson 16, Brown 3, Lopez 2, Horta 6, Perez 5. Express League

Orangewood Academy 72, Liberty Christian 26 --Orangewood Academy was led by Marcus Warren with 11 points,10 rebounds, 10 steals.

South Bay Lutheran 64, Southland Christian 49--South Bay Lutheran (9-2, 7-0) was led by Chris Maxie who scored 16 points, while Michael Bonner added 14. Qyntyn Webb had eight points and seven rebounds, and Anthony Raines also had eight points. Chris Johnson added 10 rebounds and five assists.


Foothill League

Hart 49, Burroughs 32--details not available.

Saugus 58, Canyon Canyon Country 57 -- With 16 seconds remaining and trailing by one, Saugus' B.J. Wilkomm made both shots and the Centurions (14-9, 6-1) hung on for the win as Mike Jones and Kevin Valle both scored 13 and Willkomm and Johnny Borelli scored 9 each.  Rich Ratcliff had 23 points for Canyon (16-7, 4-3) and Jeremy Haggerty added 13.

Whitewater 78, Masada 44 --The Saints continued their run to a perfect season as 6-foot-7 shooting guard Damien Poss finished with 35 points. Whitewater (18-0, 8-0) was also led by 6-8 center Frank Coleman, who scored 20 points and grabbed 15 boards. Sophomore forward Herron Adams finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Whitewater will be in the V-AA bracket for playoffs, not V-A as previously listed. They have 75 students but because they are a single-gender school, their enrollment is doubled thereby placing them in the higher division.  Masada -- Presley 16, Myrack 2, Gaine 4, Thompson 11, Jones 6, Daniels 3, Williams 2. Whitewater -- Gabremichael 5, Poss 35, Adams 13, Taylor 3, Haywood 2, Coleman 20. Halftime score -- Whitewater 33-13. Three-point goals -- Poss 5, Gabremichael, Taylor, Daniels. Total fouls -- Masada 13, Whitewater 12. Fouled out -- none.


Frontier League

Santa Clara 56, Calabasas 50 --This was a game which we scouted on Tuesday night, and one thing is for certain, the Santa Clara fans are loud and boisterous.   But so were Santa Clara's since after all it was their home court they had to defend.   Santa Clara (13-7, 5-1) currently ranked No. 2 in the CIF-SCIBCA Division V-AA Poll and number 5 in the SoCalHoops Top 20, was led by Tim Lajoie who scored 22 points in the win over Calabasas (14-9, 4-2).  There were 11 lead changes and Calabasas had a chance to pull to within four with under a minute remaining, but could not make crucial free throws.  Most of Santa Clara's points were from the perimeter.  Jason Saunders scored 13 points for Calabasas in the home loss.  Anthony Marquez,  added 16 points, including two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter with most of his scoring coming from jumpers within the lane. LaJoie had nine rebounds and Minney grabbed seven boards.   Santa Clara limited Calabasas senior Adam Malatesta to just four points while point guard Mike Verrillo had 12 points. Steve Saunders pulled down 11 rebounds and Michael Justman had eight.  Santa Clara (56) -- Marquez 16, Minney 13, LaJoie 22, Griffin 5. Harbor League

Price 79, New Roads 37 --Juniors Kalief Washington and Oscar Edwards both finished with 17 points to lead Price (21-4, 5-0) in the league win over New Roads (5-12, 2-3).

Rolling Hills Prep 68, Ribet Academy 64 (OT) --Rolling Hills Prep (12-5, 4-1) maintained its grip on first place in the inaugural year of the Harbor League as Curtis Allen scored 26 points and 14 rebounds for host RHP, which has now defeated Ribet twice in league;  the two also met once in a tournament in December in Fresno, which Ribet won.  Allen scored on a three-pointer with five seconds in the fourth quarter sening the game into the extra period.  Jason Daley had 15 points for RHP and Alex Elliott scored 12 points, while point guard D.J. Wright had 11 points and 9 assists.


High Desert League

Mojave 56, Kern Valley 49 --Mojave (11-8, 7-2) was led by L.D. Cox with 21 points over Kern Valley (10-9, 3-6) which was led by Jordan Hughes with 24 points.

Rosamond 77, Frazier Mountain 43 --Host Rosamond (17-4, 9-0) was led by Brandon Murray with 17 points over visiting Frazier Mountain.


Hi-Lo League

International League

Calvary Baptist 70, Southwestern Academy 59--Charles Andrews had 19 points, seven assists, and Joon Lee had 16 points and five assists for Cal Baptist (9-8. 2-3). Also chipping in for Cal Baptist was Scott Smith with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Roma Smith had 13 points and 17 rebounds.


Ivy League

Canyon Springs 59, Arlington 57--Canyon Springs (17-7, 6-1) used a man-to-man full court press to outscore Riverside Arlington 24-17 in the third quarter, erasing a two-point halftime deficit en route to the win over Arlington Arlington (9-14, 3-4) .Tron Smith scored 12 second-half points and Andre McGee had 18 points, seven steals and eight assists to lead the Cougars.  Arlington-- Simon 16, Garner 12, Holguin 10, Lefotu 6, Arellano 5, Orduno 4, Alosta 3, McGhee 1. Canyon Springs -- McGee 18, Smith 13, Arnwine 14, James 5, Adams 5, Gaines 4.  Halftime score -- Arlington 23-21. Three-point goals -- Simon, Holguin, Smith, McGee 2, James. Riverside Poly 61, JW North 60--J W North (8-13, 2-5) got a three poniter from Grayland Walter to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining, but Christian Vonalt of Riverside Poly (20-4, 7-0) hit one of two free throws with 5.8 seconds left for the win. Jeremy Lopez, who had a game-high 30 points, tipped away a pass that was stolen by Danny Rennesein to stop a last-second shot by JW North.  North  -- Howard 17, Morton 4 Acevedo 6, Esquivel 18, Wright 2, Walter 10, Martinez 2, Stewart 1. Poly (7-0, 20-4) -- Renneisen 10, Kipper 5, Guffey 3, Lopez 30, Vonalt 10, Tillery 1, LeDuc 2. Halftime score -- Poly 36-28. Three-point goals -- Esquivel 2, Walter 2, Renneisen 2, Guffey. Valley View 51, Moreno Valley 37--Trailing by two at halftime, Valley View (6-16, 1-6) outscored Moreno Valley (12-12, 2-5) by a score of 19-12 to take a five-point lead after three quarters, then held on for its first Ivy League win.   Valley View -- Nwigwe 10, Overton 2, Kalapaca 12, Rogers 2, Slaughter 20, Williams 2, Barrett 3. Riverside Christian 67, Upland Christian 43 --Sean Paul Bowlus scored 29 points and 10 rebounds for Riverside Christian (12-3, 9-1) while Nick Roberds led Upland Christian with 17 points.and Jake Garcia added 15 on five 3-pointers for the Eagles (14-7, 8-3). The Cougars outscored Upland Christian by an average of 10 points per quarter through the first three quarters of play in building a 56-26 lead. Jared Ennis and Mike Sloan each scored 14 points for Desert Chapel (13-3, 8-1) in the win over Christian Center (0-9 in league).   Landon Hernandez also grabbed 10 rebounds, and Paul Hackbarth had eight steals for the Eagles.  Desert Chapel -- Sloan 14, P. Loyola 73, St. Francis 52 --Visiting Loyola (18-3, 7-1) was led by junior shooting guard Omar Wilkes who had 19 points in the win over St. Francis (5-13, 0-9) which got 14 points from Chris Miller.

Notre Dame 58, Alemany 38 --Notre Dame (8-15, 4-5) was led by Sean Djernes with 17 points.


Mojave River League

Olympic League

Calvary Chapel Santa Ana  67, Whittier Christian 50 -- Joey Jones had 13 points for Calvary Chapel (10-10, 4-2) and Kyle Underwood scored 14 points for Whittier Christian (5-19, 0-6).


Omega League

Newbury Park Adventist 71, Skyward Christian 28--details not available.

San Fernando Valley Academy 47, Trinity Lutheran 18 --Chris Estay scored 23 points to lead host San Fernando Valley Academy (4-9, 4-3) over visiting Trinity Lutheran (4-8, 2-5).


Pacific League

Glendale 79, Arcadia 71 --Isa Hall scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and four assists, while Riley Van Patten had 19 points, six assists and three steals for Glendale (11-12, 3-4 in league). Brett Dohling scored 28 points and Dante Owens had 23 points for Arcadia (0-7 in league).  Dohling scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the first half.  The Nitros outscored Arcadia 18-12 by going on a 15-4 in the fourth quarter.  Glendale 15 26 20 18 -- 79 Arcadia 17 21 21 12 -- 71 Glendale- Hall 23, 7 rebounds and 4 assists, Van Patten 19, 6 assists and 3 steals, Munoz 13 and 5 assists, Nicolas 9 and 9 assists, Guerrero 7, Soulat 6, Darakjian 2. Muir 72, Hoover 57 --Ryan Hollins had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Muir (20-3, 5-2) over Hoover (1-6 in league). Devon Thomas added 13 points and nine rebounds for Muir.
