The bracket has been updated to reflect all first second games, and quarterfinal matchups are also shown.  Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously.  If both teams have the same number of home games, then the the host is determined by flipping a coin.  Details and scoring in second round games is shown below the bracket:

Divsion I-A--Second Round Games, Played 2/19

Upper Half of the Bracket

No. 1 Mission Viejo 59, Santa Ana Valley 46 --Santa Clara-bound senior forward Travis Niesen scored 15 points, while Jed Collins finished with 14 and Jake Collins scored 13 points for Mission Viejo (26-2). Martin Gonzalez had 14 points for Santa Ana Valley (19-9). 

Canyon (Canyon Country) 77, Crescenta Valley 62--With Crescenta Valley's best shooter on the bench with foul-trouble for a good part of the game and Canyon hitting 30-49 from the field, the Cowboys (19-9) advanced and will play Mission Viejo on Friday night.  Canyon was led by Jeremy Haggerty with 30 points.  Crescenta Valley (20-8) was led by senior point guard Chris Tarne, who scored 27 points in his final game for the Falcons. Jimmy Goffredo finished with 12 after running into foul trouble early.   Brendan Couper had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Crescenta Valley. Crescenta Valley 20 10 13 19 -- 62 Canyon 19 15 18 25 -77 Crescenta Valley-- Tarne 27, Couper 12 and 11 rebounds, Goffredo 12 and 4 assists, Luansing 8, Kang 2, Moradian 1. Three-pointers: Tarne 4, Goffredo, Luansing. Canyon-- Haggerty 30, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, Eichten 11 and 8 assists, Wilkins 10, Waite 7, Radcliffe 6, Bennett 5 and 4 assists, Shirley 3, Davidson 3, Schlenher 2. Cajon 70, JW North 53 -- Cajon senior wing Donovan Morris scored 32 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and four slam dunks as JW North (13-15) ends the season.  The San Andreas League champion Cowboys (24-4) have now reached the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year and will play Loyola Friday.  Cajon used a 17-0 run over the last minute of the first quarter and the first 5:34 of the second to lead 31-12, held the Huskies to one field goal and two rebounds in the second quarter and never let the lead fall below 11 the rest of the way. It outrebounded JW North 36-19.   JW North point guard Ron Howard, their leading scorer at 26.8 points per game, was held to one point at the half, but scored 22 of North's 37 second-half points.   Dmytry Lewis finished with 12 points, and three blocks for North.  Abundo Esquivel had 11 points and Dion Morton nine for the Huskies.

No. 4 Loyola 73, Los Alamitos 59 --Depsite going scoreless through the first quarter, Omar Wilkes led Loyola (24-3) with 24 points as the Cubs will advance to the quarterfinals against Cajon on Friday night.  The Cubs also got 13 points from sophomore point guard Vincent Oliver and 12 from Josh Flynn-Brown. Loyola forced fourteen turnovers in the game, including six in the second quarter to take a 29-20 lead at the half..  The Griffins (17-11) were led by senior Mark Lotman who scored 11 third-quarter points and finished with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds. Lavelle Jones added 16 points and Steve Paranal had 6 assists for the Griffins.

Lower Half of the Bracket

No. 3 Thousand Oaks 60, Rowland 39-- Thousand Oaks (25-3) was led by senior point guard Ben Olson who scored 17 points, while senior teammate Dave Anderson added 16 points. Kevin Rex finished with 9 points for the Lancers.  Rowland (20-8) was led by senior VaShon Pruitt who finished his high school career with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

San Gorgonio 53, Riverside Poly 43-- Khorry Lewis scored 14 points, and hit five-of-six free throws in the final quarter, to lead host San Gorgonio (21-7) over Riverside Poly (24-5) which was led by Jeremy Lopez with 19 points.   The game was tied 32-32 with 2:22 left in the third quarter when  6-5 Jacob Daigle went to work for San Gorgonio, making three consecutive baskets to end the third quarter. Riverside Poly got to within three points 41-38,  with 3:51 left in the game, but San Gorgonio then went on a 6-0 run.  Daryle Leach had 10 points for San Gorgonio and Thomas Tyler grabbed seven rebounds and scored six points.

Lancaster 67, Hart 52 -- Michael Webb scored scored a career-high 41 points to lead Lancaster (21-7) to the quarterfinals for the first time in the school's history.   Eight of Webb's 14 field goals were 3-pointers.  Cody Kase scored 10 of his 20 points for Hart (23-5) in a late 17-3 rally that made it 58-50 with 2:17 remaining, but Lancaster closed the game with a 9-2 run to cement the victory.

No. 2 Glendora 58, Silverado 50-- The Glendora Tartans (26-2) pulled off the win over Silverado (18-10) behind Larry Monroe's 17 points, including 4-of-5 free throws down the stretch. Silverado received a game-high 19 points from junior Aesh Dabbash. Glendora also received 17 points from senior forward Spencer Foster. Senior 6-2 guard Ryan Diggs had 13 points and went 5-for-7 from the field for Silverado.


All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
