Division II-AA boys bracket first round updated 2/13

CIF-SS Boys Division II-AA Bracket:
First Round Matchups Updated--(Feb. 13, 2002)

There were four wild-card games played on Wednesday, February 13. Here's what happened:

St. John Bosco 94, Buena 67 --St. John Bosco (21-6) was led by Donald Quiroz who scored 30 points, including 9 three pointers (9-13 shooting), six rebounds and six assists in the win over Buena. St. John's Giovanni St. Amant scored 33 oints and 9 rebounds.

Burbank 64, Westlake 62 (OT) --Burbank (16-10) was led by Jason Flowers who scored 32 points in the win over Westlake (11-13) which was led by junior Jonathan Wiley, who scored 22 points. Burbank led 22-6 in the opening quarter, but Westlake had a chance to force double overtime and possibly win the game in the final seconds. The Warriors couldn't get a shot off as time expired. Flowers hit three free throws and a 3-pointer in the overtime, and Trent Cleveland finished with 18 points for Burbank. Rob Daniel added 10 points for the Warriors.

North Torrance 70, Cerritos 64 --Visiting North Torrance (15-10) was led by Jason Davis with 21 points and Jun Sensac scored 13 in the win over Cerritos which was led by Dawin Whiten with 17. North Torrance outscored Cerritos 26-13 in the fourth quarter to overcome a seven-point deficit. Jarrod Carroll had 12 points, including the field goal that gave North Torrance the lead in the fourth quarter. Trevon Herd added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Saxons.

Katella 65, Orange 50 --Visiting Katella (13-13) was led by Jeff Clement with 16 points and Robert Alvarez added 14 points. Quenton Parker had 19 points for Orange.

The bracket has been updated with the above results. First round games are Friday, February 15. All games are at 7:30 p.m.

All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
