The bracket has been updated to reflect all second round games, and quarterfinal round matchups are shown. Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously. If both teams have the same number of home games, then the host is determined by a coin flip. Details and scoring in second round games is shown below the bracket:

Divsion II-AA--First Round Games, Played 2/15/02
Upper Half of the Bracket
No. 1 Mater Dei 101, Antelope Valley 53 --Mater Dei was led by senior wing Mike Strawberry who had 26 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Marcel Jones had 14 points and six rebounds. Junior foward Harrison Schaen added 13 points and seven rebounds as Mater Dei (24-4) cruised in the win over Antelope Valley (20-8).
Woodbridge 66, Sunny Hills 47 -- Patrick Hadden scored a game-high 18 points, and Cole Edmondson added 13 to lead the visiting Warriors (23-6). Gerard Rivera scored 14 points for the Lancers.
St. John Bosco 73, El Dorado 69 (OT) --Senior guard Giovanni St. Amant scored six of St. John Bosco's (23-6) eight points in overtime and finished with 35 points. David Patten led El Dorado (23-5), which rallied from a 15-point deficit in the second quarter to send the game into overtime, with 27 points.
No. 4 Corona Centennial 78, Cathedral City 53 -- The Huskies outscored Cathedral City 22-14 in the first quarter and the Lions couldnt get any closer in the second quarter when they were outscored 22-9, as Corona Centennial led 44-23 at the half. Sophomore Austin Oglesey led the Lions (19-8) in scoring with 14 points.
Lower Half of the Bracket
No. 3 Villa Park 54, Newport Harbor 41-- Visiting No. 3 seed Villa Park (26-3) who won a tough defensive game in which both teams struggled offensively. Newport Harbor shot only 15 of 52 from the field, and 8-16 from the line. Villa Park shot only 19 of 55 from the field. Newport Harbor made only 3 of 18 three point attempts. Tony Melum finished with 8 points, a season low. Newport Harbor's point guard Greg Perrine finished with 7 points, while Nedim Pajevic had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Villa Park was led by Brice Prather with 13 points, while Corey Miller had 10 and Sean Phaler had 9. Inglewood 72, Moorpark 47 --DeAngelo Collins led Inglewood with a game-high 28 points and six blocked shots in the win over Moorpark (18-10) and Ray Reed finished with 24 points for the Sentinels (22-5). Moorpark was led by guard Keith Lawrence with 21 points. Inglewood (72) -- Milton 2, McKinney 5, Ligon 7, Reed 24, Collins 28, Holloway 4, Allums 4. Moorpark (47) -- Lawrence 21, Fortman 5, Nystrom 6, Rodrigues 4, Sharp 7. Inglewood 20 16 14 22--72 Moorpark 11 10 20 6--47 3-Point goals -- Inglewood 5 (Ligon 2, Reed 2, McKinney). Claremont 56, Santa Barbara 44 --Shaddean Aaron scored 26 points with 13 rebounds to lead Claremont (22-6), which plays second-seeded Pasadena on Friday. Aaron also had two assists, three steals and two blocks. Junior guard Charles Oliver hit three three-pointers and scored 15 points, including five in the third quarter. Santa Barbara (17-11) junior guard Santiago Aguirre finished with 10 points and junior Michael Fisher led Santa Barbara with 12 points. Claremont--Oliver 15, Aaron 26, Munoz 11, Wilson 2, O'Conner 2. Totals 18 15-25 55. Santa Barbara-- Rochestie 3, Maloney 6, Clemens 3, DeRose 8, Fisher 12, Heckman 2, Aguirre 10. Totals 18 5-8 44. No 2 Pasadena 68, Simi Valley 57 --Pasadena (24-4) was led by McKensie Clark and Terron Redmon who combined for 32 of Pasadena's 68 points in the win over Simi Valley (18-10), which was led by senior forward K.C. Bellefontaine, who finished with a game-high 27 points. Redmond had 18 and Clark 14. Pasadena's senior point guard Duwan Rice finished with 10 points, all in the second half. Mitch McManus and Mark Wells added 10 points each for Simi Valley. The No. 2-seeded Bulldogs trailed at halftime but scored 10 unanswered points in the the third quarter to pull away from the Pioneers, outscoring Simi Valley 19-6 in the period. Dino Wilburn also had 10 points for the Bulldogs. Pasadena (68) -- Rice 10, Wilburn 10, Redmond 20, Phillips 7, Clark 12, Sweemeu 3, Bean 6. Simi Valley (58) -- Suniga 0, Wells 10, Duarte 5, Bellefontaine 27, Schock 5, McManus 10, Sullivan 0, Palomarez 0, Hampton 9, Carr 0. All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
