CIF-SS Boys Division II-A Bracket:
Quarterfinal Results & Details--(Feb. 20, 2002)

The bracket has been updated to reflect all first, second and quarterfinal games which have been played, and the semifinal matchups which will be played this coming Tuesday, February 19.   Even though the semifinals are played at "alternate sites" (which means simply a site at which the host team has not held a practice during the year), there's still a "home" team, and an "away" team. Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously, and if both teams have an equal number of prior home games, the host is determined by flipping a coin.  The host gets to select the "alternate site."

Details and scoring in the quarterfinals is shown below the updated bracket:

No. 3 Redondo 66, La Habra 37--Wendell White had 28 points and 10 rebounds for third-seeded Redondo Union (21-6), scoring 15 points in the third quarter as Redondo went on a 28-4 run which put the game out of reach.  Redondo's senior point guard, Keith Ellison, who has committed to San Diego State in football (he's also a quarterback) had 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the victory for Redondo Union, which plays second-seeded Santa Margarita at Concordia University Friday.  Senior Adam Zahn, one of six McDonald's All-American finalists from California, had 7 points.  La Habra's Marcellus Robertson finished with 8 points.

Senior Michael Thompson scored 19 points in his final game for Victor Valley, including three three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
