The bracket has been updated to reflect all first round games, and second round matchups are shown. Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously. If both teams played on the road or at home in the first round, the host was determined by flipping a coin. Details and scoring in first round games is shown below the bracket:

IV-AA--First Round Game Results, Played 2/1/025 & 2/14/02

Upper Half of the Bracket

No. 1 El Segundo 75, Maranatha 56 --Dashawn Strong had 24 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists amnd Jeramie Hopson had 27 points and 8 rebounds for top-seeded El Segundo (24-4). John Gregorich had 16 points for Maranatha.

St. Monica 83, Carpinteria 48-- St. Monica jumped out to a 47-12 lead at halftime and finished with nine 3-pointers to beat Carpinteria (11-12), who were led by Ernie Lopez with 10 points while Julian Lopez recorded six assists. St. Monica's Kyle Guillory scored a game-high 19 points.  Carpinteria--E. Lopez 10, Munoz 2, Boardman 5, Dudley 6, Zemke 8, Zoldos 3, Horton 9, Hildebrand 2, Echevarria 2. Totals 20 6-13 48. St. Monica--Owens 3, Agatep 9, Tanios 4, Hamaguchi 2, Nevarez 4, Minter 7, Nunley 15, Guillory 19, Cruz 16, Liderbock 2. Totals 22 22-28 83. Carpinteria--7 5 19 17 -- 83 St. Monica--25 22 18 18 -- 48  3-point goals--C 2 (E. Lopez 2), SM 9 (Agatep, Nunley

Mojave 54, Loma Linda Academy 46 --Brian Stevenson scored 20 points for Mojave, while Chris Purdom scored 20 points and five rebounds for host Loma Linda Academy (17-6)   (Game Played on Thursday)

Brentwood 67, Calvary Chapel Santa Ana 46 --Branden Turner scored 13 points for Brentwood (21-6). Calvary Chapel (11-11) was led by  Joey Jones with 20 points in the loss.

La Salle 86, Paraclete 66 --Mark Kelley scored 18 points and Jeremiah De Leon added 16 to lead host La Salle (21-5). Paraclete finishes 9-15.  La Salle started fast with a 12-0 run in the first quarter, causing three consecutive Paraclete turnovers. Paraclete didn't score until 4:00 had gone by in the first quarter.

Twentynine Palms 60, Valley Christian Cerritos 56--Senior 6-4 forward Ken Randle had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (18-6) topped the Crusaders (10-15) in a Division IV-AA game. Twentynine Palms forward Dynamite Mathews nearly duplicated Randle's stats, with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. The Wildcats led by 15 going into fourth quarter, but the Crusaders came back to take a one-point lead with 2:10 remaining. Mathews and Randle combine to make five points from the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the retake the lead an seal the victory. Senior Mike Barrett led Valley Christian with a 15-point performance

St. Joseph Santa Maria 79, St. Bonaventure 57 --At St. Joseph, Joe Tilley scored a game-high 26 points in the win over St. Bonaventure (14-10), which was led by Brian Ragen who scored 16 points and Scott Cummings who added 12 in the loss. St. Bonaventure (57) -- Hertel 9, Barnard 6, Cummings 12, Miller 4, Ragen 16, Fisher 4, Vartanian 2, Jones 4.  St. Joseph's (79) -- Barba 6, Merb 4, Schweighert 6, Tilley 26, Acllesh 3, DePriest 10, Adams 8, Dominques 5, Kussler 11.  St. Bonaventure 5 10 19 25--57 St. Joseph's 21 20 18 20--79 3-Point goals -- St. Bonaventure 5 (Ragen 4, Hertel). St. Joseph's 8 (Tilley 3, Adams 2, Dominques, Acllesh, Schweighert). Fouled out -- St. Bonaventure (Fisher), St. Josephs (Barba). Rebounds -- St. Bonaventure 25 (Cummings 7). Assists -- St. Bonaventure 10 (Hertel 7). Total fouls -- St. Bonaventure 19, St. Joseph's 20.

No. 4 Chaminade 83, Providence 53 --Marcus Everett scored 12 points, and grabbed 6 steals while Dion Cook had 11 points, as Chaminade (21-6) set a school record with 25 steals in the win over Providence from Burbank.  Gerred Link scored 10 points and had five steals and Jeff Stewart added 10 points for the Eagles.

Lower Half of the Bracket

Rosamond 60,  Big Bear 52--details not available.

Daniel Murphy 81, Milken 50 --Chukuma Awaji scored 37 points for Daniel Murphy (19-8). Justin Turman recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds in the first half before leaving at the start of the third period with an ankle injury. (Game Played Thursday).

St. Paul 47, Orange Lutheran 45 --Kevin Dyer made a layup with 11 seconds left to win it for St. Paul (13-15). Dyer had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Nathan Klitzing had 15 points for Orange Lutheran (16-11). Swordsmen reserve Richard Rivera fought his way through three screens before forcing Orange Lutheran's Nathan Klitzing to miss an off-balance jumper down the stretch, preserving St. Paul's one-point lead. Orange Lutheran (16-11) focused its defensive efforts on Omar Cepedia in the first half, but Dyer, a junior forward, picked up the slack inside to make 9 of his 12 field-goal attempts and finish with 12 rebounds

Crossroads 76, Fillmore 46 --Host Crossroads (18-6)  was led by Robert Locke and Jordon Rush who each scored 21 points. Fillmore (12-12) was led by Jordon Arroyo who scored 14 points and Armando Ferrer added 10 points. Fillmore was outscored 28-12 in the fourth quarter.  Fillmore (46) -- Fore 7, McCary 2, Arroyo 14, Edwards 4, Ferrer 10, DeLaPiedra 1, Handly 6.  Crossroads (76) -- Engraham 7, Locke 21, Wong 4, Abrahams 10, Naqui 3, Brown 2, Hall 2, Browning 4, Rush 21, Taner 2.  Fillmore 9 11 14 12--46 Crossroads 16 13 19 28--76 3-Point goals -- Fillmore 3 (Fiore 1, Arroyo 1, Ferrer 1), Crossroads 5 (Locke 1, Abrahams 3, Natui 1). Fouled out -- None. Rebounds -- Fillmore 22 (Ferrer 7). Assists -- Fillmore 6 (Ferrer 3). Total fouls -- Crossroads 15, Fillmore 15. 

Oak Park 70, Crespi 55--Oak Park (20-6) was led by Nick Smith with 20 points and Grant Smith added 15 points and seven rebounds. Oak Park used a 21-3 run in the second quarter to pull away at home. Crespi (12-15) was led by Alan Ellis who scored 19 points. Crespi (55) -- Ellis 9, Fekaris 6, Flavin 5, Wong 12, Koslowsky 8, Sisto 1, Stapleton 5. Oak Park  (70) -- Daley 3, G. Smith 15, McNair 8, Kezelman 4, Winningham 6, Tom 5, Klein 9, N. Smith 20.  Crespi 16 3 16 20--55 Oak Park 15 21 16 18--70  3-Point goals -- Crespi 7 (Ellis 2, Ferkaris 2, Wong 2, Koslowsky 1), Oak Park 6 (Daley 1, Winningham 1, G. Smith 2, Kein 1. Fouled out -- Stapleton, G. Smith. Rebounds -- Crespi 31, Oak Park 31 (G. Smith 7, Klein 7). Assists -- Oak Park 12 (McNair 6).Total fouls -- Crespi 25, Oak Park 18. Technicals -- Witt.

Desert Christian 60, Kern Valley 53 --Brian Waugh and Mike Spears each had 15 points for Desert Christian (18-3). Jordan Hughes had 20 points for Kern Valley.

Riverside Notre Dame 45, Duarte 42-- The Falcons held a one-point lead going into the fourth quarter but were outscored 15-11 in the last eight minutes.Brandon Black scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Duarte.

No. 2 Harvard-Westlake 77, Village Christian 35 --Bryce Taylor had 20 points for Harvard-Westlake (22-5).


All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
