The bracket has been updated to reflect all second round games, and quarterfinal matchups are shown. Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously. If both teams have the same number of home games, the host is determined by flipping a coin.   Details and scoring in first round games is shown below the bracket:

IV-AA--First Round Game Results, Played 2/1/025 & 2/14/02

Upper Half of the Bracket

No. 1 El Segundo 63, St. Monica 46--Senior forward Dashawn Strong (6'-5" Sr. F) had 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead No. 1 seed El Segundo (25-4) in the win over St. Monica (12-13). Mike McCullough added 10 points and eight assists for the Eagles.El Segundo point guard Mike McCullough finished with 10 points and 10 assists. DeAndre Mathieu  added 10 points on 4-8 shooting from the field.  El Segundo will play Brentwood in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Brentwood 63, Mojave 46--Brentwood (22-6) was led by Brandon Turner with 18 points in the win over Mojave.

Twentynine Palms 59, La Salle 51--Twentynine Palms (19-6) pulled out the win when Bryan Cromwell grabbed two consecutive steals and scored both times, one a three pointer, the other a layup in the final 1:30 of the game.  Ken Randell led Twentynine Palms with 20 points.  La Salle shot only 5-14 from the line.  Twentynine Palms was also led by Raymond Hester added 15 while Bryan Cromwell scored another 10.  La Salle's Anthony Napolitano was the leading scorer with 17 points. The senior point-guard hit five 3-point baskets, including two consecutive baskets, as part of a 10-0 run that gave La Salle (20-6) an early 13-5 lead.

No. 4 Chaminade 74, Santa Maria St. Joseph 40--Adrian Aye-Darko scored 20 of his 29 points in the first half to lead the visiting Eagles of West Hills (22-6) past the Knights of Santa Maria (14-13). Aye-Darko scored five three-pointers, and added 10 rebounds and four steals

Lower Half of the Bracket

Murphy 61, No. 3 Rosamond 57--Daniel Murphy (20-8) was led by Justin Turman with 20 points in the win over No. 3 seed Rosamond (21-5).

St. Paul 61, Crossroads 53--Crossroads (18-7) will not be back at the Pond this year and won't be defending their run through the State Tournament either as St. Paul (14-15) knocked off the Roadrunners behind Rudy Serna's three-pointer with under a minute to play which tied the score, 47-47, and sent the game into overtime. Kevin Dyer then scored six of his 16 points in overtime for St. Paul to secure the win.  Serna made five three-pointers and finished with 19 points. Crossroads senior shooting guard Joe Abrahams, playing in his final high school game, scored 16 points and junior point guard Robert Locke finished with 15. With the game on the line in the final two periods, Crossroads made just five of 15 free throws, including only three of nine in the fourth quarter. Six of those were in succession, and three of those were the front end of bonus situations. Jordan Rush had 12 points for Crossroads in the loss.

Oak Park 63, Desert Christian Lancaster 45--details not available.

No. 2 Harvard-Westlake 66, Riverside Notre Dame 56 --Bryce Taylor scored a career-high 37 points and added 11 rebounds for Harvard-Westlake (23-5) which advances to play Oak Park in the quarterfinals Friday. Taylor shot 12 of 19 from the field,  including 4 of 8 three-pointers. Talani Calhoun had 25 points for visiting Riverside Notre Dame (15-11).


All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
