First Round Results
No. 1 Price 100, North County Christian 36 --No. 1 seed Price (23-6) was led by Frank Peace with 17 points.
Renaissance 67, Calvary Baptist 39-- Renaissance (16-5) was led by Aaron Clitheroe, who scored 35 points, including nine three pointers in the win over Calvary Baptist (10-1)
Baptist Christian 90, Immanuel Christian 50 --Baptist Christian (16-5) was led by Matt Acton with 14 points (8 in the first quarter) in the win over visiting Immanual Christian, which got 23 points from Matt Minnek.
Hesperia Christian 68, Westview 48-- The Patriots opened up an early lead and Westview was never able to overcome it. HCS' three point shooting trio of Jesse McDonald, Josh Hamilton and Bryan Glass had 15, 18 , and 15 points respectively. Westview star EB Benson was in foul trouble early ( he had four fouls with 2 minuts gone in the second half although he did not foul out). Benson got 12 points but was hampered from defending in the second half. Patriot Trevor Wagstaffe limited Westview's Matt Eisenoff to only 8 points, while Youseff Hulse of Westview scored 18 points and 10 rebounds. HCS--20 15 14 19--68 Westview--8 14 7 19--48
Orangewood Christian --Bye
Mesrobian 74, Ventura County Christian 41 --Tigran Grigorian scored 29 points to lead host Mesrobian (12-2), which will play Orangewood next on Friday.
Big Pine--bye
No. 4 Antelope Valley Christian 71, Wilson Creek 41--Antelope Valley Christian (16-7) was led by Phillip Okonma and Unsik Yoo who scored 15 points apiece. AVC will play at Big Pine on Friday. Sophomore 6-2 forward Jerome Powell nearly missed a double-double with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort for Wilson Creek (7-14). Sophomore 6-1 forward Peter Schoop added 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Wilson Creek.
No. 3 Rio Hondo 64, Redlands Adventist 43 --Rio Hondo Prep (15-8) was led by Devon Drain with 13 points.
Acaciawood 66, San Fernando Valley 44--Jesse Cope had 30 points, 16 rebounds and five steals to lead Acaciawood (12-9), which will host Rio Hondo Prep on Friday.
Desert Chapel--Bye
Zinsmeyer 60, South Bay Lutheran 49 --Erik Williams scored 29 to lead Zinsmeyer (18-0) over South Bay Lutheran (11-4). Qyntyn Webb collected 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, but the Waves shot just 29.4 percent (20-of-68) and fell to visiting Zinsmeyer. Michael Bonner also scored 15 points for South Bay Lutheran (11-4). Chris Maxie contributed eight points and 14 rebounds.
Delphi Academy 55, Joshua Springs 50 --Delphi Academy (13-11) beat visiting Joshua Springs to advance to the second round on Friday at Eastside Christian.
Eastside Christian 53, Tarbut V'Torah 50 --Eastside Christian was led by Oneil Cousins with 25 points in the win over Tarbut V' Torah (15-8) which was led by Steven Eghbali with 24 points and Geoff Keith with 21 in the loss.
Santa Maria Valley Christian Academy 77, West L.A. Baptist 58--details were not available.
Stoneridge Prep--Bye
All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
