2nd Round Results & Details--(Feb. 16, 2002)
The bracket has been updated to reflect all first round and second games complete, and the quarterfinal matchups which will be played this coming Tuesday, February 19. Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously. If both teams played on the road or at home in the first round, the host was determined by flipping a coin. Details and scoring in second round games played Friday night are shown below the bracket:

V-A--Second Round Game Results, Played 2/14 & 2/14
Upper Half of Bracket
No. 1 Price 105, Renaissance 32 --Frank Peace scored 23 points for Price (24-6).
Hesperia Christian 70, Baptist Christian 66 --Hesperia Christian's Bryan Glass scored 17 points and Jesse McDonald added 15 points. Aaron Garcia had 15 rebounds and 14 points. McDonald scored the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds. The Patriots, who trailed most of the second half, cut a 10-point deficit inside the game's final four minutes.
Orangewood 69, Mesrobian 40--details not available.
No. 4 Antelope Valley Christian 78, Big Pine 42 --Brandon Majors scored 21 points with 21 rebounds in Big Pine's loss at home. Big Pine finishes 14-7. Antelope Valley Christian is 17-8.
Lower Half of Bracket
No. 3 Rio Hondo Prep 68, Acaciawood 52 --Landon Goodwell scored 18 points and Jordan Ross added 14 to lead Rio Hondo Prep (16-8) at Acaciawood.
Desert Chapel 60, Zinsmeyer 52 --Reed Ritchie scored 11 of his 30 points in the first quarter for Desert Chapel (19-3). The Eagles jumped to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter, but led by one point at half. The Eagles lead grew to two after three quarters, but they fell behind in the fourth before going on a 13-3 run to seal the victory. Zinsmeyer--10 21 12 9-- 52 Desert Chapel--20 12 13 15 -- 60
Delphi v. Eastside Christian-- This game will be played Saturday night at Fairmont Prep.
No. 2 Stoneridge Prep 79, Valley Christian Academy 70--James Spencer scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half to lead the Wildcats of Tarzana (21-5) in a second-round victory played at LA Cleveland. Stoneridge had a bye in the first round as the No. 2 seed and the league champion in the American League. Leon Usher and Mike Nang added 19 and 15 points, respectively. Valley Christian Santa Maria was led by Josh Mason with 33 points. The Lions managed to pull to within 6 in the fourth quarter, but Stoneridge hung on for the win.
All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
