CIF-SS Boys Division III-A Bracket:
First Round Pairings--(Feb. 10, 2002)
This is a 16 team bracket with one wild-card game, Burroughs Ridgecrest (hosting) v. Estancia, which will be played on February 13. The seeds in this bracket are No. 1 Compton Centennial, No. 2 Bishop Montgomery, No. 3 La Canada, and No. 4 Muir. So why are Muir and Bishop Montgomery not playing at home if they are higher seeds? The answer is that only teams which won their leagues, i.e., No. 1 finishers in league get the home game. Gabrielino and Santa Paula were both No. 1 in their respective leagues, and Muir (which finished behind Pasadena and Crescenta Valley in Pacific League) and Bishop Montgomery (which finished second in Del Rey) Here's the rest of the bracket:

All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office. Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host]. Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
