We don't have time for long, drawn out previews.   We do, however, have time to post the rosters for Division I Southern Regional games, so you'll get an idea of the matchups taking place across SoCal tonight in Division I.

Here are the games and the matchups:

No. 1 Mater Dei v.  Escondido--7:30 p.m. @ Ocean View HS

Mater Dei won the II-AA finals last Saturday and Escondido was the runner up in D-II in San Diego, losing to Helix.   Escondido will be without the services of Julius Keeler, who committed to UC Riverside;  Julius was involved in a serious automobile accident and suffered injuries which put an end to his season, so the Cougars will have their hands full.  Here are the rosters:

No. 4 Pasadena v. Stockdale @ Stockdale HS, 8:00 p.m.

Pasadena lost the II-AA title to Mater Dei and is seeded No. 4 and hoping for a rematch if they can get past Stockdale.  We only have names of the Stockdale players, no heights or positions, and know literally nothing about them.   Here are the rosters:

No. 3 Martin Luther King v. Helix @ Grossmont College, 7:30 p.m.

MLK lost the II-A finals to Redondo Union on a last second shot by Wendell White, so there is just a hairs-breadth separating them from the top team in the Southern Section's II-A division.   Helix is a team that we know verty littel about and we've only seen some of their players a handful of times over the years, but they were good enough to beat Escondido and draw the home game for the first round.    Here are the rosters:

Riverside King Wolves   Helix HS Scotties
3 Jame Ellis 5'-11" So. G 11 Kenny Farris 5'-11" Sr. G
5 Marvin Lea 6'-3" Sr. F/G 13 Ryan San Juan 5'-6" Sr. G

11 Garrett Hilt 6'-4" Sr. F 23 Tremaine West 5'-11" Sr. G
20 Terence Scott 5'-11" Jr. G 25 Ray Toilolo 5'-11" Jr. G

40 Evan Palmer 6'-0" Sr. F 51 Tim Bland 6'-1" Jr. F
44 Ryan Wells 6'-2" Jr. C 55 Raphael Bell 6'-3" Jr. C
50 Keith Canzater 6'-3" So. F
55 Daniel Doss 6'-5" Sr. C

No. 3 Redondo Union v. Fresno Hoover @ Redondo Union, 8:00 p.m.

Redondo won the II-A finals, beating Riverside MLK at the buzzer, and they are tough outside and inside.  Hoover, unfortunately, didn't submit either a roster or a photo, so perhaps they are not planning on advancing far enough in the tournament that anyone will have to worry about printing up the programs....because if they do, there won't be anything for them other than their record, which was 16-9.   We therefore can't really say much about this team, and it's kind of pointless to post rosters....If you're going, then you are obviously a Redondo fan if you're from L.A., and if not, then you probably already know about Hoover anyway.....Good luck, because against Redondo at home, you'll need it.
