San Diego All-CIF Teams Announced,
Boys & Girls--(Mar. 13, 2002)

In the last day or two we've been living March Madness, trying to make sense out of the NCAA bracket, checking out the NCAA D-II, III and NAIA Tournaments, the California men's JUCO tournament (which moves to the Stockton this weekend), the State high school regionals which has the finals this weekend, visiting the LACC-Rockfish Spring League...in short, it's really March and it's insane.  Even though there is a lot happening, we didn't want to overlook some of the more important awards given out to high school players, and in San Diego's CIF, a section which is infinitely smaller than the massive Southern Section of the CIF, there's a completely different philosophy about the "All-CIF" awards, which are restricted to three teams of five players each, and a Player of the Year.   The awards in San Diego are given out by the Brietbard Foundation, a local group which has for years supported high school athletics in San Diego, and are selected by a panel of county sportswriters and sportscasters under the auspices of the Breitbard Foundation.
