Whittier Daily News News Names
"All-Area" Boys Teams--(Mar. 19, 2002)

The Whittier Daily News (a sister paper to the Pasadena Star-News, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the LA Daily News, the Long Beach Press Telegram, and many other local papers) annually selects it's "all area" teams of the best boys basketball players in the paper's coverage area (which is essentially the portion of the San Gabriel Valley which isn't covered by the Star-News or the Whittier Daily News).

The selections are shown in the paper's online Preps Section, and while we're going to simply pass along the names of the players selected, you really ought to visit their site, because the graphics and layout which the paper has put together are quite nice. There's also a nice bio and story about Michael Hernandez from Whittier High who was selected as the Player of the Year and Michael Varos of Whittier High who was selected as the Coach of the Year.

Here are the names of the players selected for each of the three San Gabriel Valley News "All-Area" teams:
