2002 Best In The West Summer
Series Of Tournaments Announced--(April 24, 2002)
Each summer for the past 13 years, there has been a series of summer tournaments which have featured some of the top players from SoCal under the rubric of "Best in the West." While the folks running tournaments under that name have, from time to time changed, Jeff Day, a longtime referee and former Artesia assistant last summer took over the reins and he sponsored a series of summer tournaments which were every bit as good as what we've come to expect over the years out of the Best in the West events. Jeff sent us an e-mail recently announcing this year's series of events and asked if we'd pass them along for those who might be interested in participating, and we're happy to do that. Here's the scoop:
We are pleased to announce that this summer we are offiering several great boys' basketball tournaments. Best int he West Tournament have run events for high school basketball teams during the summer for the past 13 years. Players who have participated over the years include names such as Ed O'Bannon, Charles O'Bannon, Paul Pierce, Ed Stokes, Tayshaun Prince, Tommy Prince, Jason Kapono, Tyson Chandler, Josh Childress, Chris Hernandez, David Bluthenthal, Brandon Granville, Baron Davis....the list goes on and on.
BIW offers top competition and all tournaments offer two or three man CIF-NCAA certified referees, fair and balanced play, and this year, like last year, we will offer all levels of competition, from small schools to large schools, making special efforts to keep league opponents from playing each other, so that teams will get the most out of playing new and different opponents.
